if i dont get working asics for my demaged miners, i send you one pcb if you like.
at the moment it looks good that i get some asics now for repair.
but maybe i have then one pcb free to send to you.

for now, i can make better resolution photos for you.
most lines you can track on the picture...
all the other lines in the leyer, i can tell you where it goes...

the parts on the miner are easy to solder... (no bga´s)
so its easy to desolder and resolder it back... its done in 5 minutes...

when my demaged sticks are back to work, i use it for overclocking tests...
then this tuned sticks will get blue led´s Wink
i have already one modeficated with a blue led... looks mutch better then the green one.
Yea It looks like a 3-4 layer board most everything is on one layer, going to try to capture all the signals at once to see what the MCU actually does, I hope it is as simple as I think, looks like serial to the MCU then the MCU does a 8 <-> 16 bit bus type thing. I would say the blue is neat, I found when I was working with it I had to put tape on the green was so bright would blind me Smiley Here is the top photo I made. I am impressed how much they can take, I wish I knew the maximum junction voltage, I have been to 1.9V trying to use 25 MHz but got a little scared.

Can somebody tell me what types of resistors these are?  What keywords and descriptions to look for?

I'm using 1.5K (in an 0805 package) as R1, and the 16Mhz crystals are from a chinese eBay seller.  I've got some 16Mhz, 20Mhz & 24Mhz crystals coming from Digikey and will replace the current crystals shortly and post the results.  I'm looking to get the same speed Bluestreak66 has reported with a 16Mhz crystal.

Be aware that not all resistor are created equal most are 5% and good ones are 1% but some off ebay can be factory seconds and be off by 10% or more. If your getting them off ebay check the resistance before soldering them to confirm it's correct. Here are the ones that I've been using http://tinyurl.com/lzpfjbr

Is there a specific one you are using in that list?

I can confirm that I now have multiple Sticks overclocked. some at 13.5Mhz with a 1K resistor (1.1333V) and some at 16Mhz using a 1.5K resistor (1.3v) and another with a R1=1K and R2=1.8K. (1.2444V). currently using the stock heatsink.

with the "icarus-timing short" option under cgminer that work at the expected hash rates, 13.5 = 377Mh/s and 16=447Mh/s.

without the timing option the hash rates are down at least 10% and more as you get higher.

As long as you can keep them cool they work fine. I currently have a 25cm desk fan blowing over them. they only feel warm to the touch.

I don't think you will be able to desolder with a soldering iron .

Can anyone provide me with a ebay link to 1351 resistor? I need them to go with http://www.ebay.com/itm/130853541733 crystals.
R1 value should be 1350.

R1 = 1500, crystal = 16Mhz, work in PC without suplementary power, but have more errors than with usb cable to another usb port.

With Raspberry and cheap usb hubs, constantly comunicacion errors, in this one and other devices.

What power input have erupter USB at the 16MHz, 1.2V?
Nonoverclocking has around 500-510 mA (5V), and overclocking?

Don't see any major problems, small thing I noticed was you mentioned red square on R1 and it looks brown, but small stuff. Good Job

That's a good guide, my only suggestion might be that it would a little clearer if the images were taken with a USB microscope, they are about $15-20 from eBay /dhgate. If you do a lot of work on small boards / with SMDs I'd recommend them for sure. But a seriously nice guide in any case.  Wink

Good Tutorial, I would like to add the crystal does have a specific orientation. You can see pin one on the crystal in marked by the white circle (that iv'e circled in red) as it is with every chip on the board.

Your more than welcome to put that in the tutorial or modify it if you like. I just pulled it out of the data sheet and modified it in paint. A few other things, data sheet for crystal shows max re-flow temps around 260*C for 10 seconds (Personally I use around 290*C but I'm not a patient person  Roll Eyes ) 380*C seems a bit high. Here is the data sheet for the brand I used: http://www.abracon.com/Oscillators/ASFL1.pdf look at the very bottom under "Reflow Profile". Thanks for putting the time into doing this I'm sure lots of people will appreciate it.

Edit: Also your links at the beginning aren't working so I don't know what solder paste you linked to but leaded is easier to work with if your a beginner. I'm cheap so I actually just used regular solder, solder paste has a shelf life so I don't tend to keep it around unless I have a project going.

Thanks for compiling all that information!  Although yeah some of the links for items aren't working for me, I was able to google stuff that should work and finally came up with a bill of materials after browsing every page in this thread.  I'll definitely leave a tip once I pull this off.

I remember one time I put one backwards on another board I was working on, could not figure out what was going on but then all of a sudden the oscillator fell off, thought that was strange, well the reason is they get really hot when there in backwards!

note thanks for the feedback I attempted to correct the links if they don't work let me know again. But I put links that can now be copied and pasted into a web browser and they are working for me on 2 computers so hopefully they are now good, modified temps for rework and also added bluestreaks orientation for the OSC
