This has been already asked tons of times in here, but i will reply it to you anyway.
Nobody knows if it is going to be forever, just think about it, there is NO empire that can be long forever, just like it happened with Roma, Paris, Londres, all the empires are always going to dissapear.
And the same is going to happen with fiat money, it will suddenly dissappear but it will take a lot of time to see it happening.
And bitcoin might last for no more than 50 years from now, and i am sure about that, but most of us would not even be alive to see it happening.

In bitcoin history, people have tried to bring it down like the great investors from Wall Street claiming that bitcoin is a bubble and it will burst at one point, but what you need to understand is that the bubble is not empty. There is a value of economic utility within that bubble that will remain. Companies the have a solid use case outside of just the digital transaction sector will survive. Think Apple in the bubble, tangible product and digital product, or Cisco etc. Bitcoin is not unstoppable in terms of valor and market because governments can ban it whenever they wish. Imagine China banning bitcoin forever, this might cause the ending of the coin (or not), maybe price can drastically drop and nothing happens.

Bitcoin is unstopable? I don't know what kind of "unstopable" you refer to but if it's crypto-related only then I think yes bitcoin is unstopable for now. But well we never know how long bitcoin is gonna last. Something bad could happen suddenly, any time, and make bitcoin crash. Even though I'm sure it's not gonna happen in anytime soon. But who knows right?

I really beleive that bitcoin is unstoppable because like in my country which is the philippines bitcoin is prohibited or illegal because the Government found out that bitcoin is being use in illegal transaction of drugs and terrorist but they dont know how useful bitcoin is and how bitcoin help alot of people and how people earn big because of bitcoin but even if its illegal in my country it is still unstoppble because it will never be gone and it will continue to grow and help alot of good and poor people and have a easy and secure future.

no one knows if bitcoin will be forever. because the whole world is mortal. and also we know that bitcoin stock every year is reduced, then there is a possibility if later stock bitcoin out then people will re-look for real work. although I hope bitcoin can last a long time, and is it possible if stock botcoin increases?

Nothing is permanent in this world if you think it logically maybe Bitcoin will not last forever but I don't see a reason for now that it will be gone soon or it will be remove by anything, paper moneys are once created by someone or group of people that agrees that it must have a value when trading for goods and services of a civilization and it last for more than a thousands of years now but again there is no 100% guaranteed that it will be forever. As we entering a new era of our world now that almost all of the businesses and necessities are getting into digital world now for more convenient way of living, money is not and exemption so that's why I think Bitcoin was created for people to use it anywhere and anytime in the world. |

It is unpredictable, just like the price, nobody knows what is going to happen because the whole universe is weird, and if bitcoin suddenly dissapears, then a lot of people are going to lose their money, and of course, a lot of banks, because most of them have millions and millions invested in bitcoin and in order altcoins like ripple.
But it is not going to dissapear, at least, not for now because bitcoin is going up like crazy on those days, so it is impossible to see it drowning right now.
But everything is possible, but not at the moment.

There are so many threats and limitation of bitcoin like other coins, possible disappearing of internet and the worst is the government no one can resist the power of the government if the government agree to all banks that banned bitcoin worldwide the investor will go back and the value will fall, the bitcoin will last for long but not the value. No things in this world proven that will last forever.

Bitcoin is something that is wonderful, and I won't go against that statement but you also have to think of the amount of control that governments and other legal entities (such as banks) do have control over it if they really want to use this power (or if they feel they must use this power to help themselves)
If a government wants to, they can tax Bitcoin usage, buying, selling, etc into oblivion -- and not only put this into law, actually put forward enforcement for this sort of stuff to actually happen. Banks could also refuse to help in the facilitation of transcations, as they're usually the clearing houses for a lot of these things as they still MUST go through fiat.
So, it's not unstoppable at all

Governmanets always intervene into the business of anything new once it gets big enough. People who think Bitcoin will not be affected by governments are absolutely wrong. Government exists to control people, but not necessarily in a bad way. Government is good, actually. It is just when it becomes corrupt, or there is too little or too much that it becomes a problem. And these things have scopes, it isn't necessarily like there is a perfect line drawn between what is right and wrong in government, but in general I think Western governments are doing a good job right now despite what many people in the crypto community try to say to shed a negative light on them, I simply do not find this to be true at all. |

No. Not forever. But it is unstoppable now. Banks cannot be replaced by bitcoin in the near future. Our fiat system will be here even if there are crypto currencies around. We cannot say for sure but there will be a time that bitcoin will be widely accepted in the future

I don't think so, if it is stoppable it won't have experienced such a drastic change within this short span of time. We can see the growth of bitcoin year by year, month by month and even day by day with lot of people adopting the platform everyday. Bitcoin has crossed many hurdles and reached this high position now and so that much easily it won't be stopped.

Yes, sort of.
Let's presume Bitcoin succeeds that it becomes the world primary currency.
At that point, it will necessarily be far more stable than today like the price of bread or beer won't change drastically from day to day but as the economy grows the technology and productivity , the prices of goods, in general, will gradually fall, which is just another way to say bitcoin will continue to become more valuable over time.

Everyday is a challenge.
We dont know what else could pop up there and maybe the real better one.
But as of now I believe bitcoin will last for a lot of years.
There are still more to be mined. And with halvings to come it will take a lot more time.
So I guess we just better make a use of it now.

My best guess at this point is that we're dealing with a large inflow of new people, and that at the very least the BTC price will stabilize. I am currently looking into how to do as much of my transactions as possible in BTC. If Bitcoin becomes fully mainstream, then it will grow at the rate that its economic use grows. Until that time, it may grow or fail, but if it grows it will grow at a much faster rate as people adopt it.

We don't know what can happen in the future but we can predict it and I think bitcoin will be there but not forever, for a long long time only. I always see this question in the forum already. In the future, more and more countries in the world will be using hi - tech gadgets and I think more and more people will be involved in cryptocurrency. We can't know that for sure. All we know is that bitcoin will remain for a very very long time at the top of all cryptocurrency. In my opinion, I think bitcoin will be unstoppable in a way that no other emerging altcoin can rival bitcoin in terms of price, popularity, and acceptance. It has been almost 8 years since bitcoin has been created and it has proven a lot through those years and still remain the most dominant coin out there.

Or we can also buy gold and silver. The price of the property will always go up and it will not go down. I've never heard that property prices are going down every year, we just need to sell at the right time and right place. Maybe it's also true with Bitcoin, but for Bitcoin we just need the right time only. Actually, to be honest, I'm afraid that if Bitcoin disappears and goes bankrupt someday. I'm afraid that Bitcoin is no longer in the future and all the money I invested disappears. Hopefully it does not happen and I can benefit a lot from Bitcoin. But I have to get out of the comfort zone and take the risk if I want to get a better life. |

Yes ,I believe that Bitcoin is unstoppable in the nearest future due to several other reasons.Now a days people are facing many problems with their hard earned money that is the Banks and government are imposing several taxes and hidden taxes for their money because it is a centralised currency the government got the right to impose according to their wish,but in the case of bitcoin it is decentralized digital currency no authorities interferes in it.But in the long run we cannot predict what will be the future after 50 or 100 years, that depends.

The biggest threat for bitcoin is the scaling issue and the increasing amount of transaction fees and majority of the threat is within the community where everyone wants to take over the lead developers chair ,if the 2x fork would have enabled it would have being a disaster looking at the issues they had and glad that they are not implemented.If there is necessary update in the network whenever necessary then quantum computing problems can be resolved too. |

Many people tried to take down bitcoin but because of the love by the people and their support bitcoin is still standing strong, no one knows if bitcoin will be forever there but in my opinion if bitcoins goes down someday along the other cryptos maybe because a stronger and more secured type of currency has been introduced to the community.

funny thing about bitcoin is that in beggining when price was so low about 0.30$ i had about 20 bitcoins. I sold it when it was for .50$ just earn. Hahaha....imagine what money it would be today.
lol, you could be a millionaire now with that amount of bitcoins if you still hold it until today. but unfortunately not. @op i think that bitcoin is not unstoppable because people are still have the rights to control it or manipulate it though some people believe that it is unstoppable due to its value that still continue to increase. |

I think the reason governments and financial regulators are finally taking notice of Bitcoin is precisely because they now believe Bitcoin to be unstoppable. Even the most stout believers in the traditional banking and finance sector are beginning to seriously consider Bitcoin, explained by how so many investment and hedge funds are now diversifying into Bitcoin.
They may not fully understand it. They may not even really buy into it. But the forces that are now driving Bitcoin can't be ignored. Whatever some people may think, they see Bitcoin as "too big to fail", at least for many foreseaable years.

Simple answer would be no. Nothing goes on forever whether its fiat or crypto. There will come a time when even these would probably be replaced by another option more suited to the times then. For now, and the next couple of years maybe, i think bitcoin will continue to surge and make people who believe in it rich. Lets just focus on the now and take advatange of this opportunity that bitcoin presents

Right now, Bitcoin is not stable or popular enough to be a standalone currency. In order to survive, it needs to be exchangeable to other currencies… In fact, most currencies need to be exchangeable. Imagine if it was illegal to exchange your Swedish Kroners to any other currency… You probably wouldn’t want to be paid in Kroners, would you?
If governments reduce the liquidity of Bitcoin, they make it less viable.
If they make it illegal, they push anyone using it into the fringe.

Maybe it wont last forever because i believe in the near future, there will be an appereance of a lot of new crypto currencies better than bitcoin that will compete with one another when it comes to popularity. But before that happens, it would take a lot of time because its community is still rising as well as its value. Bitcoin's supporters would not allow that thing yet.

You are right, nothing lasts forever but one thing is sure bitcoin on worst case scenario started a movement and showed us, that there are finally alternatives for banks dominance over cash. This "revolution" or should I say "evolution" that is probably a much more appropriated term for what is happening, will change the finance world for good, either in the next years we will continue to have bitcoin, or a different version of it. For me, seeing bitcoin as an evolution, is one of the reasons why I think it will be unstoppable. You simply can't ban evolution, it's something that happens and affects everything. |

if you look at the 2 halvings, the reward per block is still greater in fiat terms than it was historically even when the reward per block was 50 or 25 bitcoins. That said, that doesn't consider the additional costs of mining due to the increase in difficulty. As the pricing dynamics of mining change, this can impact price, though it is a complex set of variables. If for some reason in the future the reward+fees didn't translate into profit for miners, those miners would shut down/turn off their rigs. This would continue until either the difficulty readjusts making mining profitable for remaining miners, or until the price moved (due to adoption etc.) making it profitable again.
We see the same thing with gold as mines are regularly shut down and reopened based on the price or on increased productivity of mining equipment/processes.

Nothing is permanent in this world if you think it logically maybe Bitcoin will not last forever but I don't see a reason for now that it will be gone soon or it will be remove by anything, paper moneys are once created by someone or group of people that agrees that it must have a value when trading for goods and services of a civilization and it last for more than a thousands of years now but again there is no 100% guaranteed that it will be forever. As we entering a new era of our world now that almost all of the businesses and necessities are getting into digital world now for more convenient way of living, money is not and exemption so that's why I think Bitcoin was created for people to use it anywhere and anytime in the world. As of now bitcoin is really powerful and its prices are really shocking the people where your investment can earn fast due to bitcoin's fast capital appreciation due to its acceptance in the market and its being known now to many people but at a certain point in time in the future bitcoin might be superseded by something we don't know now. |

obliviously bitcoin is unstoppable becz nearly 5 trillion transactions done on blockchain till date with no intermediary intervening in payment bitcoin is unstoppable and forever

Bitcoin is not unstoppable in terms of valor and market because governments can ban it when ever they wish. When we hear about crypto currency "Bitcoin" stands first as it is the master of crypto currency.
The millionaires like Bill Gates even spoke about it and it's reputation since years never stopped. Great investors from Wall Street even tried to bring it down claiming that bitcoin is a bubble and it will burst at one point, but we have to understand that bubble is not empty. A value of economic utility within that bubble will remain. Huge transactions dealing with bitcoin right now as its reputation is reaching highly.

Bitcoin is really good right now. but it doesn't mean it's unstoppable. There's always possibilities to go there. I don't know when it is, but someday it would come. I thought, at that time we are no longer exist. It means it may be next hundred years. Since the growth of technology is too fast, there's always more sophisticated technology come after bitcoin (maybe).

If the worldwide ban for bitcoin is implemented then it will stop. Some countries are against bitcoin and they could tell other countries to hate bitcoin and there could be chance to ban it all the way and it could be stop circulating bitcoin.

Right. Good things must come to an end and what we're enjoying right now can't be sustained forever. 5-10 years may be a high time for bitcoin but it will decline. But cryptocurrencies will not. Another coin like btc may replace it and etherium have a very good chance to be the top crypto in a few years with many big companies seeing the potential in etherium as well |

No! Fiat currencies were introduced a few decades ago and today it remains limited to the boundary of the countries but something called crypto-currency is breaking these geographical barriers and we are using it as an option for the payments through traditional fiat currencies. Transformation takes places all the time and nothing is permanent, the biggest change we are going to see in the form of Industry 4.0. I don't see any alt-coin or any other technology can stop Bitcoin in next 10 to 20 years but no one can even predict after that period.

Why not man. Look at the popularity of the bitcoin, its going off the chart and more and more people are getting into bitcoin trades everyday and every single minute. Im sure that this upward trend of investment will keep happening until we see no one has left that is not invested into it. Yeah thats really possible. Because some people will start believing in it when the price will reach to 15K and some of them might trust it when it reaches 20K and so on. Until the market gets fully capped people will keep coming and the aint gonna stop. So yeah I'm pretty sure that bitcoin will be there forever. Lokk at the market capitalism of the bitcoin . The market has crossed most valuable assets in the world already and thats why government will also try to go into it soon. This will bring more regulated bitcoin and thus people will start coming into it ever and ever. Thats the oxygen for the bitcoin and it will never die really. |

I think so. It is definitely possible that Bitcoin will last forever. Because as long as people will keep using it and hold in to it, supporting it and investing in to it, it will surely last. After all Bitcoin helped many individual in their finances and even in their needs. |

For me one thing is sure, nothing is forever, but I see a brilliant future in the Blockchain technology (Bitcoin is something else ) We can't stop Bitcoin for overlapping virtual currency in the world because there are more and more people who invest and support Bitcoin as long as it is the most secured and safe currency. the risks of bitcoin investment can be said to be relative in my opinion, for some people may be very risky and some of the other say secure investment depends on their patience and knowledge on investment, and I agree with the user keep coming and it will not stop until everyone adopts bitcoin |
