You gain activity by posting which increase your rank. Details here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
You can done a whole lot to Bitcoitalk as well and get high rank!

And another thing is trust which you receive after completing successful deals with other members (if member gives it to you)

You are most welcome Setanta! Also another thing I forgot to tell is that some people give trust to you just because of your actions and not because of trading and trust can also be negative

Let me rephrase it. You can gain trusts base on how you contribute to the bitcointalk community or the deals that you made to other bitcointalkers out there. In other words, if you spam, lie, cheat and etc then you will most likely painted red while if you help the forum taking out garbages, accomplish the deals you made then most likely you'll get postive trust feedback.

For me, you don't have to do anything special to gain the reputation. I have gained much knowledge from this form and during my journey of last 4 years, I have always focused on learning. Today, I am still learning but at the same time, I try to give back to the community what I have gained from the senior members. I have asked for the loan multiple times and repaid it on time, I do provide free of cost escrow service and in return, other parties post their feedback about the experience. Thus, you don't have to do anything special for the sake of reputation, just stick to the morals and strictly avoid malpractices.

Reputation here, i think there's no reputation, only positive and negative trust, if you mean get trust is when someone give you negative or positive respons in case what the deal from you and that people.
