You can start and stop the race every time you want.
You can power-off your pc now and restart the race tomorrow using the same wallet. The race will resume from where it was interrupted.
The race is also cumulative, that means you can start as many race you want from different computers or smartphones using the same wallet.
The result will be like having a single computer with the power of all the CPUs used.

You are right only top 1000 will get the Cognx token. But even on airdrop based on google form or such there are limitations.
About gambling we develop this fundraising strategy to limit the probability and make everything as clear as possible. In the RESULT PAGE everyone can check his position in realtime and if you are beyond position 1000 you can check with the form present in the page how far your hash rate is from the 1000th position.

Tokens will be distributed according to the distance (hash rate) achieved during the race for the first 1000 different wallets!
As usual you will have a page updated in real time that will show you the number of tokens linked to your wallet that will be airdropped at the end of the race.
The token distribution is proportional to the distance travelled with a max cap at 30000 token. All measurements are automatic in real time and then continuously updated. Check your position every day!

this is not an issue. We try to explane: immagine only two racers in the game, according to the new rules they will receive only 30000 Token each not 500000.

as told before, we are just waiting a couple of days for a decongestion of the ethereum network caused by Cryptokitties.
If you look at the gas burners in Gas Station site:  https://ethgasstation.info/gasguzzlers.php, the first two smart contract belong to Cryptokitties and are responsible for the congestion.
The problem in making a distribution under these conditions is the danger that some transactions may remain in pending state and cause a stalemate in distribution.
Obviously, the solution to overcome the stalemate is to identify pending transaction and resend the transaction (same nonce) but with a higher gas price. We prefer to wait a few days rather than having problems during distribution.

in a message of 5 December we posted the new rules by also inserting the pseudocode of the algorithm that regulates the distribution of tokens in this second Airdrop Race. The pseudocode is the following:

tokens = single_runner_distance*1000000/total_distance_of_all_runners
if tokens>30000 then tokens=30000

where the distance is determined by the number of hashes processed during the race.

So the only way to be sure to receive 30000 tokens is to participate with as much power as possible(you can start more then one race with the same wallet using multiple computers or smartphones at once, for as long as possible and keep under control the Ranking page HERE

you understand right and there is more...
the race is cumulative, that is, you can start more races with the same wallet from different PCs and even smartphones. The result will be like having a single computer with the power of all the CPUs used.
You can start, stop and restart the race every time you want. The count will restart from the previous point.
We use the authedmine version of CoinHive API, that enforces an opt-in as soon as miner.start() is called. No hidden mining can happen.
You can decide to use 100% of the CPU or only 50% and continue to work as always with your computer or smartphone.
We are waiting for the Etherdelta registration, there's a video of the current Alpha version of the platform coming...

At first I thought it sounded a bit suspicious but the dev put my mind at rest. It is a very good idea for raising funds rather than do it via ICO or the usual airdrop, first time I have seen such a method. Not sure the project will go far but one can only hope. I think it was scam which made all participants to mine coins for cognx... as payout we got useless tokens, while project initiators got some other coins, which they sold for profit.
As we obviously know, ethereum tokens can't be mined, so we were mining something else and instead we have eth tokens which probably cost developers 5 usd to distribute.

development of the beta version is underway. We change a little bit the front-end interface to speed up the experience.
We modified some parts and changed the chart library using the fantastic baidu echarts. We implemented an svg mascot (Cogny by now, we will se next..) that will show sentiment stuff easily, a WordCloud to better understand the hottest topics in the discussions, and something more...
