What is the price right now?

36-40 depending on location. No other hardware is competing at this price, nor are USBs.

LOL

around BTC40 seems to be on par with USB erupters ( 10752/333 * .99 = ~32 ; 12829/333 * .99 = ~38.5 ; source : http://www.asicminer.co/devices.html ) so assuming BTC1.5 for hubs that's a range of BTC33.5 - 40 to equal USB erupters.   if it drops out of that range i'd be interested.

thnx!

Blades should be cheaper then USBs for many reasons.  Redundancy - If something breaks on your blade the whole blade is out but it's not likely 30 USBs break at once.  Divisibility - You can sell as many or as few USBs waiting for top price while they hash away.

Its the other way around.

USBs need USB hubs
USBs need *disputed* usb fans to cool
USBs can't exhaust the heat as easily in a farm
USBs take up WAY WAY WAY WAY more space
USBs require a host computer
USBs require a lot of cabling

Blades are under warranty, USBs are sold with redundancy rather than a warranty.
Blades are modular.

I'm not trying to argue just this is strictly to learn more.  How modular is the blade?  Are you saying if a hashing chip or two busts it's easy to repair/replace?  What about other components like a controller or power delivery system?  As far as heat and space you are correct for multiple blades but it's unlikely to be a huge issue for a buyer deciding between a blade or even two and three or six usb hubs.  Also I'm pretty sure anyone who uses BTC has a computer.  Wink

If a hashing chip dies, it just hashes slower unless it exploded etc. There are 3 components, the ethernet controller, the power delivery board and the hashing board. All 3 are interchangable.

Its not the requirement of a computer which is a problem, its that a computer needs to be on all the time.

I didn't know if chips fail that it still works.  Are ethernet controller and power delivery board readily available?

A 'blade' is a set of all 3. If one fails, friedcat will send you one out for free.

Hi. Brand new blades are being sold at 18.88 BTC each now. Will you price match or beat it?

This is for everyone, don't take it personally:
1) The new blades aren't even properly announced yet. We don't have pictures or confirmed specs. We don't know how they're powered or cooled.
2) We don't even have a confirmed release date, or time of availability
3) The new blades are NOT overclockable
