I heard the FTC developers are copying everybody else's ideas into FTC while the coin is still small and easy to make changes to.  I also heard FTC has a built in Ebay style market in it, it's more anonymous, and has the speed of LTC.

Yes buying into feathercoin now directly benefits the early adopters. Other than that I have no idea what feathercoin is.

Well it definitely sounds like its very mineable with CPU/GPU being scrypt, but its current use beyond speculation remains to be seen.

the only altcoins worth looking at are:

PPC - new "proof of stake" mining
LTC - scrypt, faster transaction, pretty wide acceptance

that's all there is to it.

Noobies:

Don't invest in any altcoins before reading A LOT of info about them, their creator, the differences they have with bitcoin (if they just changed one value, like retarget time, it's more than likely a scamcoin), and future planned improvements
See the altcoin forum, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

I don't think you can ignore Ripple its got a lot of big backing behind it, if they can get the big names such as google, amazon or ebay to adopt, then it will be very much a big contender. Think what Apple did with iTunes to the likes of napster and all the free thinking kumbaya singing music sharing folk.   now think Ripple (big corporation) vs Bittcoin (free thinking.....)

Seems like the primary benefit of Feathercoin is that it made it possible for the BTC and LTC communities to see a 51% attack first hand. Maybe I'm being cynical, but a third crypto currency seems totally unnecessary. An economy with goods and services beyond speculation, fiat conversion, gambling and illegal commerce hasn't really come together yet for BTC. What chance does a third currency have at this point?
