It all depends on the coin or ICO.

Some early investors get huge discounts on pre ICO sales, prices that little guys will never see, they often dump these coins for less than the ICO price immediately after the ICO is finished for quick gains. When this happens, ICO investors get the shaft (at least until the demand picks back up).

In my opinion, i can say buying Altcoins is more profitable and at the same way you can be sure that you will gain once you sell some altcoins in the right time. Gaining rightful amount is inclined with perfect timing and observation regarding the trades found in the market. Observing the chart how the value fluctuates is a key to determine or predict the prize therefore securing that you will gain once you sell some altcoins. Yes, there is a risk in buying altcoins, one should be sure that the altcoin that he/she bought have a potential to increase in value, for example,, in the past week and days, i am observing the ACC token, i already suspected that it will reach 1ACC = 5 dollars or more, i sold my ACC earlier this week because i needed some eth for the gas, when i look at the chart lately this day, my speculation is right and it pains me to see that the price of ACC today is 6 dollars per token. When i got my ACC token, it cost not more than a dollar and today it cost 6 dollars. Its only a matter of weeks maybe days to gain large amount of income when you buy altcoins than wait or the ICO to finish not knowing if the market value of the token would be fair enough.

Both, really if you know when is to buy and when is to sell. I think the hard and critical part is when to buy and sell after all and not just any different about which is more profitable in 'buying ALTCOINS or investing in ICO'.

Guys what are your suggestions, reviews and experiences on this matter.
Is it advisable to buy potential altcoins already listed on exchanges or invest in ICO's
I think depend on individuality, because many traders know how to analyze a coin at the ico level and make an informed decision about them and others are specialized on buy an altcoins from exchange platforms and make huge profits. For me I will prefer buying coins when there are listed as I can easily convert them to fiat than waiting for the projects to develop and fund to be invested before see if your funds will be out.

for now investing in ico seems to be profitable. but you must be careful to choose ICO, because if you are wrong in choosing the risk of ICO you will lose your money

I also favor for these type of ICO which have a high discount in the start as after the end of ICO they when come to exchanges then they are on their high rates and at that time if you sell that tokens then you will get a high profit. These type of ICO have got much crowd of investors and they all are satisfied with that.

Investing in an ICO is way more risky compared to buying an already listed coin in exchanges like ethereum and litecoin. There is no guarantee that coins in an ICO will be surely listed in an exchange but it is more cheap and have a bonus and discounts so its profitable compared to an existing coin already if it become success.

Do you know what ICO means? Those coins which you have said aren't ICO. Those coins already listed on exchange sites and you can't invest in their ICO because it have been ended very long time ago.

the question is what ico your referring?is it legitimate or those scam?being in ico needs a lot  of care because most of the ico was made for scamming thats why many investors gets anger in the community because of this damn scammers.so if i were you, better to buy those altcoin thats being listed to the top 20 coins.maybe small earning for trading but can make profit for sure

I think you should choose what you understanding.
From the profit ICO is more profitable (my opinion).
But if you do not fully understanding about ico, better buying altcoins.

Both are profitable if you will be able to invest in the right altcoin or ICO. With altcoins already listed, there are a lot of them who are still so very active in developing their projects and some caught attention of big companies or personalities that's why it is mooning. The advantage of it over ICOs is that you can study the movement of the price in the previous months or years so you will have an idea of the lowest or highest price it will be able to reach while in ICO, there is a tendency that it will still stay low for some time before it flies to the moon.

While there are ICOs that are very successful and profitable, there are those that fails to deliver their promise so it depends on you where do you want to put your money. It would be better if you will diversify so that one way or another if one fails, you will still have others to depend upon.

As you said ICO maybe more profitable only if he you invested on the right ICO or all your investment will be lost because many of the ICO are scams and some ICO tokens are really worth to buy so if you wanna invest on an ICO you need to know about their full project and its development team, because good development team can produce profitable and flawless tokens.
And the other side altcoins also give huge returns in the short period of time and some altcoins will give huge returns in long term investment but some will be worthless to buy because their price will decrease by the days.So the profit of your investment will be based on picking the correct altcoin or the ICO.
In my opinion I will invest on altcoins because ICO are totally unpredictable so we have more risk on our investment if we buy tokens.

It all depends on individual capabilities and perspective. Personally, I want to stay away for a while with these ICO as mostly of it are just scam. And it's quite hard to look which is which so I just focus for the meantime with altcoins.
With trading alts, you can at least assure to have a profit some percentage of profit while the ICO token when it got listed in exchange you'll be surprised that it seems like a shitcoin and got nothing.

for me, investing on ICOs gives you a lot profit than buying altcoins but the downside of investing on ICOs is the risk of getting scammed is high since a lot of scam ICOs appearing lately so be careful on investing on ICOs so, if you want lower risk of losing money then buy altcoins that is on the top 10 coins listed on coinmarketcap and don't buy shitcoins.

investing in ico is a good choice because you will get great benefits if it is the right ico, otherwise you will lose your coins because ico fraud is also very much. so you have to be careful in choosing ico.

It depends a lot on the particular project.
Some existing alts are excellent, as are some upcoming ICOs. But equally there are a lot of low quality existing alts and low quality ICOs.

One point I'd suggest is if you're buying coins that are already on exchanges, it can be important to time your entry point properly. Often just when a bitcoin pump is coming to an end is a great time, but again it depends on what that particular coin is doing at the time. So once you've identified a coin to buy, look at recent and upcoming news, look at how it has been trading and think about which way it is likely to move in the short-term.

Agreeing with this. Before you start investing in ico, you should probably do a huge amount of research before putting your monry on it. Anyways, if you want the "safest" way, then you should buy a well established altcoins that already listed on exchanges if the price is low. Anyways, you can do both.

besides the particular project, the whole market is not good to invest ico noe, most of them will breakout after hitting exchange
