Just like heroin or crack cocaine, it creates an addiction.

Same as was gambling

Many in here seem to have been caught up in it, spending far too much of their money on something. Partially to get the dopamine rush of buying more coin, and partially to satisfy their gambling lust hoping to score big.

It is no different than the people gambling their savings away on the roulette. Right now we are at the point where they have entered the casino and have been lucky, so they are up more money than they came. But instead of quitting while they are ahead they genuinely believe that their luck continues.

In the end it ends bad.

It's not about luck. In this case the casino has been rigged to always make the player win. There's no "house" after all.

I haven't bought much Bitcoin with physical money. All my Bitcoins come from mining and signature campaigns. I can't really say that I see why buying Bitcoin and watching the charts would be addictive. I just check the price once every day and that's it.

Don't compare drugs on bitcoin, Its addictive but bitcoin doesn't ruin people lives like abusive used to drugs, People addictive to gamble usually accused bitcoin to be ruining their financial status. But it's not that, Bitcoin doesn't make people addictive to gamble. It's the self-discipline of the people who play gamble on how to manage his/her self when it comes to gambling. Simple if you don't want to get addicted, then don't play or bet.

Bitcoin gives freedom and more privacy to the people. Bitcoin put people in control of their money, bitcoin market is open and traded 24/7 unlike banks that only opens 5 days a week, 5-9! Once you taste the joy and freedom of bitcoin there is no going back, trust me.

Yeah
Bitcoin is like heroine, because most of the people are addicted to bitcoin. They not only trust bitcoin but also love it. Now the price of bitcoin is increasing day by day. For that reason it is so populer.

Ah, a new thread to laugh upon in the morning, third day in a row! Yesterday bitcoin was used for funding North Korea nuclear program, am I right? Grin

I haven't bought much Bitcoin with physical money. All my Bitcoins come from mining and signature campaigns. I can't really say that I see why buying Bitcoin and watching the charts would be addictive. I just check the price once every day and that's it.

Same for me. Most of my coins were mined years ago and I almost forgot about them until this year. It was a pleasant surprise.

This is a definitely interesting take on why people purchase bitcoin. I think that indeed there are some aspects of bitcoin that seem like gambling. It has no physical backing like all other currencies. However, with the price being determined by the community support, the more people that show undying support, the higher bitcoin goes up. It's a weird cycle that's bound to continue, honestly. There will always be someone with hard core beliefs about bitcoin skyrocketing regardless of how it's actually doing.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

Bitcoin can be compared to heroin because like using heroin, earning money from bitcoin has an effect that makes us really happy and relieved from struggles that we encounter especially financial issues. Bitcoin is like a drug that can be prescribed to those people who don't have any job and it will help them forget all those stresses.

Brilliant fucking analysis here by someone probably too young to even drink legally.  Neither of those substances produce hangovers.  And nobody here is even bright enough to spell heroin correctly.

Bitcoin is like dope to all of you in a way.  You'd suck dicks in a mile-long line of homeless black men to get it--the 3rd world shitposters, I'm talking about now.  It is very addictive and deflates my outlook on humanity a little bit when I see the effect it has on people.

Also:  I think bitcointalk is far more like heroin than bitcoin itself.

you can not say that in the end it gets bad. indeed I feel addicted to bitcoin because I keep getting money from bitcoin. but I'm sure the next will be better and not end badly. because I have seen someone who has been in bitcoin for a few years but increasingly in the future his income is increasing

I partly agree that Bitcoin can be likened to heroin or any addictive substance for that matter that can be producing some feeling of ecstasy within our body. However, am limiting the similarity on that aspect. Heroin can be produced without limits as long as there is demand for the substance -- this is quite true with any other illegal drug. Heroin is illegal in all countries...the same thing is not true with Bitcoin though some countries are also banning it.

Heroin can never be used to buy anything...it is something to be bought and used or maybe traded to other items while Bitcoin is functioning as a currency aside from being a store of value. The main idea is really that we can be addictive in buying more and "hodling" on to our hoard of Bitcoin and I don't see anything wrong with that.

The main concern posited here is that just like getting addicted with heroin, getting involved with Bitcoin can end bad IF ONE DAY BITCOIN WOULD TURN OUT TO BE JUST ANOTHER BIG BUBBLE THAT POP just like what happened with the tulip mania centuries ago. In my opinion, in case there can be a Bitcoin bubble it can be likened to the housing bubble years ago that dampened housing prices but eventually the housing industry recovered. And for all intents and purposes, Bitcoin had been to many big crashes before...anybody interested on this just have to research more on Bitcoin history. Crashes never killed Bitcoin they instead made the cryptocurrency stronger and much better. People who are jumping into conclusion bout Bitcoin without studying its amazing history are people who are so noisy because they feel that they know much and they need to warn about others of the impending doom. Thanks for being concern but we in the Bitcoin industry are not actually that naive.

Going over the history of many bubbles, the BIG LESSON here is: never use other's people's money or credit in buying your Bitcoin.

Its like a  heroin because a person become addicted but not to the point that its about making own self crazy or out of control that was the effect of heroin while in bitcoin a person get addicted in earning money, got addicted in reading threads to learn more about crypto business, addicted on believing that everyone who wants to be a part of this botcoin community will become rich or to be financially free someday..positive side of being addiction on bitcoin. Some also get addicted on gambling because they thought that its just an easy money but without knowing how far money goes if a person get hook up in gambling it might reach to a point that a person will be bankrupt if he can control hiself..thats also addiction.

I know it's the addiction that you're trying to imply here. Yes, doing bitcoin is very addictive to the extent that you want to stay late at night just to read and post on a thread. And what makes it even more addicting is when you earn money out from your hard labor.
