Well, I like your option #4 about fund a project and create own cryptocurrency, since you have enough money to hire dev team and there a lot of good ideas around for a new project (if you haven't own), and you have enough to start own advertise campaign it will easily to promote your project. And if it will be success project, you will make way more money, than from your other options.

I think you mean is the option #3
making the own cryptocurrency is not easy if we don't have a good team, advisors and marketing, if you want your project successful look for a team that really understand in the cryptocurrency ecosystem

Bitcoin is already a good coin for long-term storage.
But I would spend part of the amount on investing in various ICO projects or coins.

12 Bitcoin is really huge. If you dont need to spend this amount actually your best decision would be holding it until the price go to the moon again. This amount could making you a millionaire in few years if the price keep increasing highly.

Woow 12 bitcoin is a whole lot of money now I advise you invest half of it in promising altcoins and HODL the rest of it for bitcoin hit 50k USD. Investment in promising altcoins will also make you richer.

That's not a Joke, it's a big investment 12BTC ! I think it's better if you  would halt for a while,  BTC is getting back into full form having moved from $6892 to $9144 in the last couple of weeks, you have to hold the BTC and wait till September 2018 I think BTC will hit $18000 dollars this year. You may also try in investing in coin that has higher potential there are alot of Them. Trade with Extreme patience, much profit awaits.

I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.

My question is, what do I do now?

As far as I can see, I have 4 options;

1) Hold the Bitcoin

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin

3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.

4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)

Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.

A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:

Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams. Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.

I think the second option is good though a due diligence is needed for the altcoin to be invested and watch the market to see more useful opportunity. That was a good effort on your part turning such a paltry sum of money into massive 12BTC. Guy you are good.

I also recommend not selling 2-3 years. It can transfer a little (20-30%) to the Etherium, in order to reduce the risks.

He had already explained this. He earned the coins from his investment in the altcoins. I guess that this guy was very lucky. He got 12x profits from his altcoin investment. I have also invested in altcoins in the past, but I never got these sort of returns.
