Yes, of course you can hold your coins as long as you can and as long as cryptocurrency is not dead you can still hold your coins in your wallet. Right now I'm holding my coins about 2 years and I sell a lot of it when the price is high and I also do the trading so that my coins increase. Also you can buy coins in a strategy of buy low sell high for addition of your coins and experience. It will never be delete as long as you hold your wallet properly and don't share to others.

Well i cannot say it for sure that it would be still having price because there might be a time that it might be dead and also if it a long term altcoin there still a chance that will go up but it is hard to determine and also to make it sure as well
