I highly doubt bitcoin's rally will end at $10k. We're only experiencing the potential of bitcoin growth. Everyday more people are learning about bitcoin and are interested in making investments. Just yesterday I was telling my family members about bitcoin and today all of them are handing me money to invest in bitcoin. You'll be surprised i invested it all and already made some gains. Bought in at $9500.

10k is a huge psychological level, it will take a little while to stick unless a retrace kicks in or some bad news comes from somewhere. If it does break it I'd expect a break below not long after.

We can't blame people from taking profit at the price of $10k, correction might really happen at around $8-9k but I still believe that it will bounce back even higher. Well if you are really plan to sell your bitcoin and but altcoins, go choose the best so you can make good money even you sold your bitcoin.

As a dip is expected at that point, I was thinking of moving to an altcoin and then buying back into BTC once the price goes down a little bit. Is that a bad idea you think?

I suggest OP switch to ethereum or maybe litecoin. I'm sure switching to altcoin is a excellent choice when bitcoin will have some correction, the huge money will flow onto altcoins.

Since others are so pessimistic about your move, let me give you an advice. In fact, I think your move is not that bad at all considering there would surely be a correction after bitcoin gets into 10,000$. If you are planning to hedge onto altcoins, look for those who have stayed long enough into the market and have potential to pump, specially the ones in the top 50 to 100. Also, do not keep it only on one coin but rather, diversify it. Better yet, just hedge on fiat then be ready to rebuy bitcoin anytime.

I dont think you should sell your bitcoins as it is very precious for now as it has reached $10000 value. There is no doubt that it will grow more and more so it will be a bad investment if you invest in altcoins now by selling your BTC. Btc has a very stable growth and you can earn more if you hold now as its price is constantly increasing.

i think $10k is not big thing for bitcoin. Bitcoin can reach $15k soon. It was 3.3k on 17th September and now 10k almost 3x so why people will sell when gain is bigger ? may some people sell but i dont think that would be so much. so after 10k will come back to 9.6-9.8k and than above 10k after few days start to rise again. best option is good to wait . No alts can win against btc those days.

I agree with you. 10k mark will result in some sort of correction. Also, I believe that after that correction, it will go to 15k in 2018

I think you can now sell your BTC, buy top-alts and after BTC correction you can buy bitcoin for 1000$ cheaper.

That doesn't seem like a good idea to run away just when it hits 10k. If you plan to sell, do it now.
The price of $10,000 has a huge psychological barrier that can actually take a lot of time till it's passed.
This is almost the exact same situation we had at $5000.

Once it goes higher than $10,000 there's no going back. That'll become the new base price that we look down at.
I'm not saying that it's gonna happen soon or anything. All I can tell you that we can experience dips and even acute dips till we reach 10k.

And that'd be the best time to buy back in with all you can. Don't get scared like me when the price dropped to 6k. I didn't buy as I thought that the "pump" is over. But in less than 2 days it proved me wrong and I regretted it of course.
I just bought some more btc with the last $500 I have on me. I'm almost 100% sure that btc will hit 15k during 2018 if not more.

Perhaps Tether? I know that there was the hack recently, but it doesn’t seem to have affected it.

Although if Bitcoin drops there’s probably a good chance that the “big” altcoins will probably go up a bit (at least in their price relative to Bitcoin).
