Bitcointalk English Premier League Betting Pool v2.0 | Current pot: £420

Since several users have expressed interest in joining the current bitcoin talk Premier League betting pool I have organised here we have decided to try open up a new one for any others that may want to join in but missed out on the action at the start of the season. This pool will be run in exactly the same way as the original one but will start officially on Round 22 of the Premier League games on the 1st of January 2018. This gives us about a month to drum up interest. To join the tournament it will be a flat fee of £20 in bitcoin which will be collected nearer the time due to fairness. The competition is similar to Skybet's SuperSix where you get 40 points for predicting the correct score and 10 for the correct outcome, but over all the games played that week. Points will be counted and tallied up throughout the season automatically via the BBC site and the person with the most points at the end of the league will win the pot. I will create a new league on the BBC's Premier League Predictor website and it will be separate but ran alongside the original.

What I'm wanting is for any players who are interested in joining to state so in this thread. If we can get 5+ players to pledge £20 in bitcoin interested before the end of the year then I will then create a new league.

Here is the current leader-board for the original and most seem to be enjoying it so far and there's a potential pot of of over 0.2 btc which will be split between the top five:

Not really sure what you're asking here, but no, it's not free to join. It's a gambling pool. I'm sure you can easily earn £20 by the end of the year from a signature campaign or in some other way. Feel free to create your own league on the BBC site though if you want to play for free/fun.

I think I recall seeing this thread before, perhaps much earlier on V1. I see much more than 5 players already signing up, so I guess we can safely say that this is a confirmed thing. Bitcoin has taken a bit of a hit the past few hours so should I still send the address out today or maybe give it a day or two to see what happens regarding the value? If it keeps falling the prize pot might not end up being much and might be unfair to people paying different values as we collect the money in. I think people are unnecessarily panicking like they always do but I could see it falling more during the day as people wake up and panic which will have a knock on effect, but hopefully it'll settle once the dust has cleared (but you never know with weak hands in bitcoin and I think there'll be a lot of newish investors who bought in with the rally in December who will panic and want out especially with all the "bubble" and "end of bitcoin" headlines that will pop up all over during today).

I would for one be an "aye" vote to have it set to 0.0025btc for first entry fee to join.
It is a reasonable amount and I am pretty sure most seasoned gamblers here can afford this amount for this second round to begin.

Although, I like the idea of people competing and trying to guess the top 4. It's probably unfair to those who have accumulated points through the rounds. 50/100 points is a lot and could see a user leapfrog over multiple people because of it. I think guessing the scores/results is much more difficult than guessing the top 4.

It's probably unfair to those who have accumulated points through the rounds. 50/100 points is a lot and could see a user leapfrog over multiple people because of it. I think guessing the scores/results is much more difficult than guessing the top 4.  

It's worth the same as 1 correct score, that's not that much.
Maybe 50 extra points for predicting the top 4 in the correct order?

For me we can establish a BTC amount regardless of its equivalent value in £.
0.003btc seems  the right amount.
I wanted to propose to insert a small contest with bonus points: each user will predict the final standing of premier league (first 4 positions) and only those who guess exactly (the 4 teams in the correct order) will have a bonus of 50 or 100 points  add to his final score.

Yes, it is not easy to guess exactly the first four ranked teams! Except for Manchester City, 99% will win the Premier League, there are 5 teams (Chelsea, Manchestr United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal) for the other 3 positions.

Well, dice* dust settled, looks like panic is over, price seems stable indeed, last person joined this pool 9 days ago and next game is on 30. Jan.
Just crossed my mind that it is perfect time to collect money, before China Philipinie India South Korea (enter country) decide to ban regulate ban not ban ban bitcoin and cause mass panic again.

It's nice to win the betting pool but against with these professional folks, I don't have stand of any chance though I would love to participate and have fun. (Give me encouragement).

Not starting the betting pool when it was originally planned probably worked in my favor, as the results we've seen from the bigger teams over the last few fixtures have been unexpected. Having said that I would still like to be part of something like this are we still planning to launch this?
