That is must be a token attached to the company's revenues and profit.

for today I know only one nearly coming ICO with that system - its Orderbook.io that has an profitshare tokens, and you and all holders of the tokens receive a monthly percentage of all platform profit, depending on the number of purchased tokens

If they will give more to their holders. Depends on what rules they have.
But mostly they all withdraw if they see the ROI or there is already a little profit.
You cant do it with just one iCO, better look for an alternative in case the other one fails.
I think most of investors do this strategy now.

If the project dont  give out periodic  dividend , then the sure way to make profit is to wait and see price appreciate, you then sell the profit made on the increased value on your token and maintain the original token.

I dont believe there is much reason to stay for a long time. They got their money so you better get back yours.

When they promise something else it just goes bad.
Examples are they give bonus of what you have bought in percentage but it is still their token on how they will pay.
So if the value of the token is down then it is just the same.
If you see profit, go on and take it.

Invest in a coin with a good product, vision and better outlook of the team like the upcoming Roboadvisorcoin, SALT etc.
When the price goes rapidly up, you can sell part of your coins and still keep your original investment worth.

You'll have to do some research to find these kinds of tokens (which give dividends or passive income to holders). Most of the tokens in the market are utility token, token that needs to be used to interact with the main product.

Not many of them offer dividends as it might be classified as securities in most jurisdictions. The easiest way to find them, look for exchange ICOs. stuff like Kucoin, Coss, etc.

I agree with you, do not just focus on one ico only. So must invest in some ico, anticipation ico that we follow failed.
If ico success it does not guarantee token price will be same as ico price.

i  guess your talking about proof of stake (pos) here? not all token support that feauture. but to answer the op's question, obviously he cant simply earn a profit if he's not going to sell his token after the ico. therfor he needs to sell it in order for him to earn something on that token though in most cases , users and investors usually dumped their tokens after the ico or when the token hits on some online exchange sites like ether delta.

Only profit that you can get from altcoin it when price of it will go up, but it depends from many factors of ICO. Actually not so many altcoins go up now, better just try to trade them for fast profit.

If we want to make profit from the ICO we need to pick up the right tokens but nowadays many ICO are started and left the project tine the middle if they got good profits and the investors will siffer if that happen with the wothless tokens.
So we need to invest on the ICO with good development team to get profits from the ICO.And don't trade your coins immediately after ICO just wait for some time and see the status of your token and decide whether to sell or hold.

For me is to hold that ICO token for long term goals and exchange it when it is the right time and has a large value in exchange market.
