Trading altcoin like ethereum in my opinion more promising in the profit gains. Because, they fluctuate higher than bitcoin. So, we can get more profit with ethereum.

   It is a bit funny, but on of the most questions in trading section we can
answer with "both". What you think it is better, do that. Do both, if you
think you can handle the pressure.
   My story is simple, I bought Bitcoins first. Now I have both Bitcoins and
Ethereums. When ever you doubt in your decisions, to do something like
this or like that, do it both ways. Try both ways and you will find which
one is better for you.

i think if you are a newcomer, you should trade ETH or altcoins. Because you should spend a small fund for cheap coins and learn knowledge, skill,... after that, you can invest in Bitcoin

I think taking start with bitcoin is more amusing and more profiting as well and the first thing is its profit rate is so higher and the risk percentage is also zero in bitcoin whereas in ether the risk is very high and prices of alts are already going down so investing in eth is full of risk so for a good start and better results choose bitcoin it will keep on giving you and will never let you go to the other coin because you will never get bored,

i think that  ethereum with smart contract and the eth's price is lower than bitcoin's price, you can consider eth is your better choice. i believe that in the future eth will replace bitcoin

Well I guess for me I'd rather start in ethereum than bitcoin because bitcoin is a lot higher cost to buy than ethereum, hence ethereum also possess a good state of its price in the market. Though bitcoin is considered as the superior one compare to altcoin, I do believe in the potential of ethereum too. But then despite of this I'd still dreaming to have my own bitcoin in my account.

I think that you need to start with Bitcoin. Bitcoin has more trading pairs for trading. Therefore, bitcoin has more opportunities for trade.

I personally would go with both. BTC will continue to be used as a financial medium, while ETH will be used for all sorts of ICOs. So in both cases the demand will not be swiped away. Think of building up a portfolio of assets with ETH and BTC as a base. On top further coins can be added and depending on your risk appetite more riskier coins can be added.

If you intend like day trade you can start with ETH as reason of low cost transaction and fee or if you want to buy and keep you can do it with both.

Try futures on BTC, they have lower transactions fees, so you can start with a small amount. ETH seems to me more volatile, and has more chances to make x10, than BTC

It depends on the pairing of alts you want to get, but if your choices is holding bitcoin or ether for me either of the two is not good for trading, still trading alts is more profitable than these 2 crypto.

You should first learn what is bitcoin and how bitcoin works. Ethereum is very complicated so it is better if you will try to trade bitcoin than ethereum. The price of the bitcoin is also stronger than ethereum so it is better to start bitcoin than ethereum.

Both ethereum and bitcoins are good cryptos but since you are new in trading I suggest you to start buying Ethereum.  Its price is much cheaper than bitcoin but they almost have the same concept but with a lower transaction fee.  

But remember that before start trading, you have to be mentally and emotionally prepared.
