After some success with a Single GPU Test Rig in updating to Windows 10 1709 with 17.11.1 Drivers and the latest version of Afterburner I decided to update 3 of my 7x GPU Rigs to this version.

Post the update, all 3 are having this common issue
  • Afterburner 4.4.0 Final displays blank driver information for the card on all systems

I've tried the latest versions of DDU on affected systems and done clean installs of AMD Drivers.

Other general issues observed:
  • Driver performance generally sucks, even with Patcher 1.4.6
  • One system keeps reverting to a driver version from April 2017, even after a clean install of 17.11.1 - Got this one resolved.

I have not yet run DDU in safe mode and obviously I know possible solutions are to revert to an earlier version of Windows 10 along with an older driver or just kick W10 entirely and move to SMOS.

I've seen several people out there indicate they are running this W10 build and these same drivers on rigs with success but I can't find anywhere a post where someone is experiencing these same issues.

I have not tried running 1709 with older more mining friendly drivers but I have found posts of people saying the drivers previously released will not work in 1709.

Anyone out there had similar experiences and found a solution that works in 1709?

The Afterburner developers are claiming the problem with blank settings on Windows v1709 is a driver issue releated pixel patcher.

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/afterburner-fails-to-display-clocks-on-patched-crimson-17-10-drivers.417926/

Maybe they will fix it but honestly it looks like they gimped Afterburner intentionally with multiple GPU builds because they are butt hurt about miners buying up GPU's

I reverted back to using the blockchain drivers on Windows 10 v1703 and Afterburner is working.

Why are you running 17.11.1?

The first thing I would do is switch to the blockchain driver, it was made for mining and helps a little.  Never had a problem with afterburner.

Use ATIKMDAG patcher if you use modded bios + set all cards individually to Compute instead of gaming mode.

It's the most recent version supported by the patcher and I know it works fine with 1709.

I read the blockchain version doesn't work with 1709, are you running it on 1709?

Interesting information, thanks for sharing this.

I'm getting by with Wattman right now.

Im using the latest version with latest AMD Drivers.

12x RX 570 running fine, had the same issue with afterburner.
Sapphire STRIXX works fine, but i hate it.

I ended up undervolting and overclocking through the bios directly, and honestly it works better than afterburner

Has anyone tried one of the previous 4.4 beta versions? Do any of them work?

No, none of the Afterburner versions work with the Crimson Relive 17.1x.x drivers on Windows 10 v1709. The blockchain drivers work with v1709 and Afterbuner, but it causes the Windows UI to become unresponsive, so I rolled back to the blockchain drivers on v1703 and it's working fine.

I tried out the 1709 version the other day.
I could get 3 of 6 cards detected by windows at most.

I hazzled with it for hours but it was a total mess.

Is there a workaround for this ?
I cant mine ETH right now with any of my newbuilt nvidia rigs.

I faced the same problem. Afterburner was hanged whenever I clicked on it. But with Window 10 ver.1709 and Nvidia latest driver, it's working fine.

I have several 7 GPU Nvidia rigs on 1709 using whatever the latest drivers are, no issues with any of them.

Only major issues I find right now with 1709 are on AMD side which I must say is "typical" for AMD to have driver problems.

Sadly I don't want to mess with reverting to 1703 on my AMD rigs so I'm working through the pain right now, I hope Afterburner updates because Trixx works but it really does suck.

The latest AMD Adrenaline 17.12.2 drivers in compute mode are working with Claymore v10.3. You can set temperature, fan control and also set the overclock, powerlimit and voltages directly in the miner command line or config file. Works great with my ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 card build.

https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-17.12.2-Release-Notes.aspx

If you want to use Afterburner, you need to use the AMD Aug. 23rd blockchain drivers on Windows 10 v1703 and you are limited to a max of 8 AMD cards.

Thanks man, literally trying that now. Can you OC in Drivers? Or do you have a template for OC-ing in Claymore's config file to share?

Here are my fan control, overclock and undervolt settings for my 13 card mixed RX 580 13 card rig dual mining. You have to find out the settings for each of your cards.

Code:
-tstop 76
-tt -34,-49,-42,-35,-23,-6,-19,-33,-44,-21,-20,-25,-10
-cclock 1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200
-mclock 1950,1950,1950,2220,2050,2075,2050,2075,2220,2250,2050,2250,2075
-powlim 0,-15,-15,-15,-15,-15,-15,-5,-5,-15,-15,-15,-15
-cvddc 1050,950,950,850,850,850,850,900,900,850,850,850,900
-mvddc 1050,950,950,850,850,850,850,900,900,850,850,850,900

RX 570's can't handle as much of an undervolt compared to RX 580's.

Code:
-tstop 76
-tt -77,-69,-52,-19,-20,-64
-cclock 1200,1200,1200,1200,1200,1200
-mclock 2075,2075,2050,2075,2020,2075
-powlim -15,-15,-5,-15,-5,-10
-cvddc 925,925,925,950,950,925
-mvddc 925,925,925,950,950,925

The Windows 10 v1709 Fall Creators Update a major Windows update, especially since it added the capability to run 13+ GPU's of the same type, instead of just 8. The AMD blockchain driver came out before the v1709 Fall Creators Update and was not designed or tested to be compatible with that build. In fact I remember at the time AMD had to release new Crimson Relive drivers that were compatible with the Fall Creators Update and the new compute mode instead of the blockchain driver for compute workloads.

https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/radeon-software-crimson-relive-fall-creators-update-beta-driver-download.html

In any case, since it wasen't designed to run with those drivers, you don't gain anything from running the blockchain driver with v1709 and more than likely, it will cause issues. You are better off with v1703 if you want to run the AMD blockchain drivers. When I tried running the blockchain drivers with v1709 it created all sorts of UI and taskbar lockups.
