No, I do not think that's a good idea. With a falling market, you need to sell coins, and not buy them. I very much doubt that in 2018 we will see a green cryptomarket. Therefore, it is better not to invest in tokens.

Some of the famous coins are promising, but I suggest two altcoins that currently may be bigger fluctuations, namely Xvg and Iost. Its market capitalization is medium, and its transaction ratio is quite high.

Its depends on you which coin you want to invest your money in and i do think you should think what kind of businesses that you intrested in. I really like Tron and aelf. Does the total supply matter because I think aelf is going to be a great coin. It has not been around very long. Its still under a dollar and the total circulating supply of 250 mil. This coin will reach close to $100 within the next few years

There are a ton of projects right now under a buck. But you should be looking at the overall market cap because that is what determines the overall value, not the dollar amount.

With the current bear market there are probably a lot of good projects you can find under $1, if you have a long term view, then research a number of projects and choose which ones meet your research criteria but there are obviously a lot of bargains out there at the moment

My advices are not exactly under $1 but i suggest ICON(ICX) and Wanchain (WAN) for long term investment.

If you search promising altcoin, ICON and Wanchain is the right address in my opinion. On the other hand, Cardano (ADA) and Stellar (XLM) are my favourite under $1 altcoins in crypto market. I think they will rise from day to day with bull market in the upcoming months.

I think that better option is to invest in ICOs, if you will find good coin, it might bring good profit in several years, but you should find project with interesting and promising idea and not copy pasted thing. The price of an altcoin is below 1$ doesn't essentially mean it's cheap. There is a term called market cap that we should check rather than the price. For eg - Xrp is below 1$ , but it's marketcap is above $20B. Marketcap = price * circulating supply. So circulating supply is a big factor. Lesser the circulating supply means greater the chance for higher price. But indeed the project has to be good also.
