You probably need to advertise outside of this forum to generate more trades as otherwise you are cannibalizing the other existing exchanges.
Don't get me wrong. It is great to have your service, but it is crucial to grow the bitcoin pie foremost vs. fighting on market shares.
There's a reason why sales and engineering are two different jobs. I'm an engineer Smiley
I think the open sourcing of my code is the best I can do to grow the pie.

Also yay!
First trades in cash EUR after some people sent cash in the mail/wires!

Also S3052, I think I might get loads more volume if I set up dark pools, which are basically in my understanding trade orders that don't get publised anywhere.

Oh yes, API has been updated to take EUR currency into account.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I think that, instead of pricing bitcoin in other currencies, you should price other currencies in bitcoin.

In the same idea, order books should orders to buy/sell other currencies.  For instance, if I want to buy bitcoins against euros, I go on the EURO book and I put a "sell" order.

This would make things much clearer.

PS.  It would also make the graph easier to read, since all currency prices could be expressed in the same unit.

Ummm yea... That makes good sense, but I feel like it would get hard to compare against other markets.
Maybe I can just have both ! Smiley

yea, don't switch out... if you want, have a radio button that switches the pricings around... but i think the default pricing way should stay because that's what all the other markets do.

I think the logic at most exchanges is that bitcoins are a commodity, and you use a more established currency to buy commodities.

Yea, I will definitely improve the user profile thing, however I need to code something up quickly for a nice admin interface.
Shouldn't be long just have to do it.

You should post in 'We accept bitcoins' thread, to get Bitcoin Central listed on http://www.bitcoin.org/trade

Ticker data is now available at :

The JSON output is broken.  There is no comma following the "eur" data closing brace.  There may be other errors, but that's the one I'm seeing.

Most languages have some sort of JSON validation code that you could use, just as a self-check against this sort of problem.  I would run your XML through an XML validation as well.

Yea... I've been generating json by hand which was probably a bad idea, guess I should fall back to the nice Hash#to_json method Smiley
Also I'd need a DTD to validate my XML against, I guess the whole API is going to need some attention.

If you could fix this one JSON issue, I can get bitcoin-central listed on bitcoinwatch.

That bitcoin-central JSON breakage is my only blocker.

That bitcoin-central JSON breakage is my only blocker.

Fixed, please review the format, I removed the "pairs" semantics from both the JSON and XML data, if you use the ticker please update the parsing.

Sorry for the inconvenience but it didn't really make any sense to keep this.
