We have all read stories of coins being sent to wrong addresses (typos or badly copy and pastes)

What would you do if 100 Btc landed into your account? (unfortunately this has not happened to me yet)

I'd probably gave them back, I know is a lot of money but what would I do if I were the  guy sending the coins ?
I would really love to get them back, anyway 100 btc is 1M  at the current price.

It is impossible, when you try to send bitcoins to another address, and you suddenly have a typo mistake, the wallet provider is going to show you that address as a wrong one.

That is why it is almost impossible to have that kind of mistake, because the transactions that have been sent to wrong addreses are never sent.

Probably, there is one chance in one hundred to send bitcoins to another address that already exists.

maybe the addres is xxxxxxxxxxxx1, and you change that 1 to 2, and it can send it, but it is just that, one chance in a hundred.

I advise you do not hold 100BTC on 1 account.
If this happened you can not do any thing, except to find the owner of wallet and request him/ her to get back BTCs. but if He/him don't like to pay back you can not do any thing

Have you read the OP at least? He is not talking about in where to hold 100 bitcoins (and probably no one of us have that amount on our wallets)

I advise you do not hold 100BTC on 1 account.

This crap post clearly shows how all those newbies are desperated in order to farm their accounts so they can join signature campaigns.
And i am always thinking about what kind of manager would accept them in the future? If all their posts are the same crap, he did not even read the thread and he is replying a nonsense one line post that is not even talking about the thread.

Well, I think I should thank the gods of the new and old for that. That must be something sent from heaven. LOL.  Grin Kidding aside, I will try looking for the address here in this forum. Perhaps he has an account here, just like many Bitcoin users. If he is here then I will try to communicate with him/her regarding possible error in sending Bitcoins. If he/she is not here then I will try looking somewhere else. If I fail, I will again thanks the gods.  Grin

Someone losing out on over $1M would probably be enough to convince myself to send -most- of it back, and if they really wanted to dedicate the resources they could probably get some info on me if they tried hard enough, probably doubly so if they included a signed message with a followup transaction. But the chances of that ever happening are basically impossible, even with small amounts landing in my account. There are far too many free addresses that exist for a transaction to be sent to mine.

If this happens to me, I'd probably s*** myself. I mean, what are the odds of suddenly getting a random 100BTC when there is so much addresses. But thinking about what the other party feels, I think would gladly give it back to them because if i was in their shoes, I can only imagine the things that i am willing to do just to get back those 100 btc's.

It is a lot of money and it would be a great lost to the real owner.  If that amount landed into my account, I will be willing to give it back.  My parents always thought me to be an honest person.  I will put in mind that what if I am the real owner and I am the one who sent it accidentally.  So, I will be willing to wait until somebody contacted me regarding the lost bitcoin and I am very willing to return it.

What a question, this kind of error is rear, but if it comes true, I would honestly hold 10% and send back 90%, why?

Because of Transaction fee.

Because of the time/data/electricity/and stress I would waste in sending back.

Because I would never be rewarded for been honest even after sending back 100%.

This isn't very likely at all and I have no idea why people think this will realistically happen in their lifetimes. If you were transferring to an address, there's no reason not to use the copy and paste feature. This means it's nearly impossible for you to receive Bitcoins out of the blue unless the sender makes an honest mistake, like in campaigns, but your address would have to be in it so you would know who actually sent it, and the sender would know who he sent it to.

Taking all that into consideration, just send the coins back like you would physical money. You don't own it, and you certainly wouldn't like it if it happened to you.

I think I am very excited and I will relentlessly try to get back to the owner again in the hope that the owner will reward me for some coin only if it happens. Grin Grin Grin

100 btc because of mis-send, first maybe I do not believe, if it happens I will be around the world and to return to the owner may have to think first because this is his fault, I assume it's a livelihood for me.

I think that if 100 btc is misplaced it might be that being drunk, because 100 btc is not a bit, surely the one who sent 100 btc will be careful in the transaction, and I think nobody sent 100 btc at this time

maybe I will send 100 btc to the address which sends me or I don't know. actually, I don't have this experience about this and I really don't know what I will to do with that bitcoin. but this will happen if we don't careful when we write the address so the amount is sent to wrong address.
