I hope it's fake, but with the transfer of 4000btc out of their wallet visible to everyone, you'd think if this was just a part of their maintenance there would be some clarification tweeted. It is possible that there is a very legitimate explanation - maybe they are converting the holdings/payouts system over to a different storage - but it really does look and feel like a game-ending hack.

1. Nicehash upgraded their servers on DEC 4 according to their tweet.
2. On that upgrade they might have changed their hosting providers, now any guy inside that hosting company get into nicehash server to hack all those bitcoin.
                          OR
3. Nicehash themselves upgrading their wallet and moving into new wallet provider for security reason or to make it compatable with new upgraded infrastructure they have just installed.
4. If not than yes all of our bitcoin there is gone..... Angry

Curiously my miner reports that their solo pool is still working:

stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333

Should I disable this?

It's a pure speculation and nothing is concrete so far. I don't get why some people are making a big deal out of this when a lot of popular sites has been experiencing downtimes recently. Most probably to create another FUD again. Give it some time i suggest.

Here are some of them from what I remember. Check the dates!!!

CONFIRMED!

"Dear NiceHash users!

Unfortunately, there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website. We are currently investigating the nature of the incident and, as a result, we are stopping all operations for the next 24 hours.

Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken.

Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency.

We are fully committed to restoring the NiceHash service with the highest security measures at the earliest opportunity.

We would not exist without our devoted buyers and miners all around the globe. We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service. We will endeavour to update you at regular intervals.

While the full scope of what happened is not yet known, we recommend, as a precaution, that you change your online passwords.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are committing every resource towards solving this issue as soon as possible." -- https://www.facebook.com/NiceHash/

There's absolutely no reason for their hot wallet to hold 64 million dollars. That's completely inexcusable and a huge red flag.

This is extremely dubious. It has "exit scam" written all over it. This is 2017, and endless Bitcoin services have claimed over years that they -- against proper security procedures -- kept everything in a hot wallet and were subsequently "hacked." Does anyone even believe these claims anymore?

Today, even newbies are being taught to use hardware wallets because of the dangers of holding BTC on internet-connected machines. There is absolutely no excuse for an operation of Nicehash's size and reputation to keep > 4000 BTC in a hot wallet. I don't believe this for a second. Is there any information about the owners? Where is the company located?

Correct. I don't buy the story that they have been hacked. In these cases, especially now the price has gone up, it is a very easy way to claim to be hacked, while in reality it was likely a well set up inside job. It has been proven several times already that people being responsible for millions and millions in funds, can't deal with this professionally, and for that reason will at some point screw up badly. NiceHash had a fantastic concept and gained a considerable amount of popularity in recent times, but yet it isn't enough for the people behind it. I feel sorry for the people having lost money, and for the miners that were more or less depending on NiceHash as plarform

Oh no, sorry Nicehash users. However you should have not been investing in cloudmining in the first place. The profit gained is more advantageous to the operator than the user.

Having said that, is anyone expecting a twist in the story? All it needed was one heinous employee to execute the "hack".
