Altcoins are following BTC and there is a strong correlation in that regards. When there is bullish market alts has the potential to rise faster than BTC but on the bearish market BTC is falling less then the alts. For example ETH lost a lot from it`s market share compared to BTC. ETH price was 10% of the price of BTC in January 2018 (ETH 1k $ vs BTC 10k $) and now that ratio is 3.2 % only..

This is an unhealthy comparison, they are both not the same and each of them has its own intrinsic features and peculiarities. Bitcoin is a means of digital payment, a digital asset and a digital gold why Ethereum is a platform and a means of payment

Bitcoin and Ethereum are two different projects managed by different teams, what pumps bitcoin will definitely not affect Etherum to pump aswell because they are two different coins operating completely with different strategies
but the reality is that if the value of Bitcoin rises most of the other coins also go up so that even though they are different but have a relationship in the market. we can see for example today. that's right, bitcoin and altcoin are connected. if bitcoin moves up or down then the altcoin will follow it. but there are some altcoins that move on their own and do not follow the movement of bitcoin. but it's only a few altcoins, most of them move according to the bitcoin movement. |

When BTC goes up and downs alts are bleeding,while btc stabilize the alts are pumping thats my own observation,thats the reason why the BTC is a killing machine for alts.
it is difficult if a coin that has long been trusted can be defeated by altcoin and that has happened to bitcoin as far as I know bitcoin is the parent of many coins and applies to ethereum and if the price of bitcoin goes down then altcoin will come down, it will be difficult for altcoins to shift the price and position of bitcoin. |

I used to think that, as the value of bitcoin appreciates, so also should the value of Ethereum. But it seems the reverse is the case.
My question is, Why is it so? I need your opinions, for clarity sack and a better understanding that would really stand as a guide.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are mainly use as funding option for most of the cryptocurrency, either and investment platform, ICO's and up to trading sites and exchanges. I see, it is a matter of popularity that makes the bitcoin and ethereum gain further market. Altcoins are not always entangled to bitcoin and so as Ethereum. In most cases, people are selling their altcoins when bitcoin peaks, and that happen because bitcoin is popular. |

ETH and BTC are very good coins. Yes, it happens that the price of a particular coin has different indicators, the increase in BTC in the fall of ETH prices or vice versa. But more often it happens that the indicators of both coins show the same behavior. |

To be honest, I don't really understand the details of the most prominent or most influential cycles of the Bitcoin and Ethereum digital currencies on the Crypto market. Maybe we will get bored with that answer but from what I see the movement of the value of Bitcoin and Ethereum side by side, which means that if Bitcoin rises certainly ethereum also rises, but not always because each coin has advantages and disadvantages in the system or marketing. I only say what I know and I hope Crypto's market value continues to increase with these 2 coins.

The popularity of bitcoin makes more value increase and many adopt it so that the opportunity for investors to get rid of Eth and this makes the volume difference. Increased communities are able to change the volume of bitcoin and Eth.

If we see the charts especially the weekly or monthly charts for eth/btc pair we can see the room to grow and personally i see nice rally that can hit 0.06 and then 0.08 and finally over 0.1 range which is my personal target as well i hope it will be reached in next few months.

yes, because the value is very different, but both can still be used and Ethereum can provide big profits so they can be profitable. Bitcoin is the king of coins so it's not easy to beat with other Altcoins including Ethereum, even though Ethereum is the best Altcoin. |

Bitcoin and Ethereum should not be compared, so I agreed with you. It is same as Gold and Diamond, they are not direct competitors. There will be no flippening between the Bitcoin and Ethereum, because there is no overlap between their usages in real life. They will grow further together and will simultaneously contribute to growth of crypto in general. |

Bitcoin is the market leader and the pacesetter, many have more confidence in Bitcoin than Ether or the other. You know the higher the demand, the higher the price vice versa. The demand for BTC is higher than the demand for Ether or other coins so the price appreciate faster than others.

Of course these 2 coins have different project but what OP's said is somewhat true. I mean, everytime the price of bitcoin price increase, ethereum price also increase, not only ethereum but other altcoins also increase. Bitcoin is the crypto market leader is true. |
