Randall Munroe (xkcd.com). One of my earliest bitcoin-related thoughts was that he is going to make a fortune as soon as he puts up a bitcoin receiving address. [Edit: looks like Randall is way ahead of me: http://xkcd.com/bitcoin/ -- too bad] Wil Wheaton (Westley from ST:TNG). Respected (yes, really), huge geek fanboy following (e.g. on Twitter). Joss Whedon (creator of Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, others). If he puts bitcoin into one of his stories, the fight is over. Game, set, match. We should send them letters... Lots of letters.

We need to convince Randall Monroe (the xkcd guy) to support bitcoins openly. He is still not sure about "endorsing" it. He used to have a donation address up, but took it down. http://xkcd.com/bitcoin/

Keep in mind that endorsements are one thing, active support is another. We need someone that sells stuff, so let's keep it to musicians, software, and possibly some other stuff.

Oh hell yes! Given the wikileaks connection, and that they're accepting bitcoin donations - it wouldn't surprise me if bitcoin made at least a token appearance in a rap news episode soon

Reviving a very old thread here but this post isn't really worth starting a new one. Dwolla just got a nice boost, showing up in Google Trends (below) thanks to the revelation that Ashton Kutcher was an investor. - http://www.google.com/trends/?q=bitcoin,+dwolla&ctab=0&geo=all&date=mtd&sort=0

Right. The celebrity's job is doing what celebrities do ... not pumping their own investments. Otherwise, the restaurant chains at which Kutcher is the main celebrity investor would be switching over to Dwolla ... http://www.dolcegroup.com/new-files/website-files/Dolce_Group_-_main/gift_cards.html <-- PayPal only! But the free press certainly didn't hurt Dwolla.

I nominate: Do we think we can somehow integrate Bitcoin in to a good celebrity sex tape??? I was thinking Mark Cuban. Not for the sex tape. Just a regular ...benefactor.

Just think if instead of it being the Canadian Mint issuing MintChips it was Oprah issuing OWNCoins (same technology, different brand).
Or how about a simple celebrity-owned coin relay .. you send 1.1 BTC and get back 1.0 BTC from Bieber! Think of it as like getting an autograph.

Rupert from survivor for his little "Troubled Boys" funds would gladly look into something new like this for donations I bet.
He's actually running for governor of Indiana as a Libertarian. Donations in Bitcoin to his campaign would be pretty cool. http://rupertforgovernor.com/
