Group buy #3 here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=263871

-

Update:

Received the shipment at around 1:30 PM today, all 116 units shipped by 3:55 PM Smiley Will email the tracking numbers out shortly, don't panic if you don't receive one right away! (might take me a couple of hours) You should all receive them by 1:00PM tomorrow, and they will need to be signed for.

All the units appeared to be black.

----------------------------------

Update:

Just had a DHL sms sent to my phone.

It reads "Your DHL delivery, will be with you today ..... "

Same plan as before, If I receive it before 3:30PM I should be able to ship them all today.

----------------------------------

Update:

Tracking number received! We *should* receive the units Monday. If I receive them Monday before 3:30PM I will be able to ship all the units the same day Cheesy

----------------------------------

Update:

And they've been paid for! The txid is 65285cc255cf5f47e13c33c56a48a15bc689c0be8d0dcbfdf9818467d428d78c I'll update you all again when I receive a tracking ID Smiley

----------------------------------

Hey,

My Second UK only group buy for the ASICMiner USB Block Erupters.

First group buy completed here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246927.0 - Thank you to everyone who participated. Smiley and yxt.

According to my notes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246927.msg2696632#msg2696632 there are about 3 units remaining from the 50 target, assuming everyone pays. So we may as well get going.

The price per unit is: 0.99 BTC

The order handling fee is 0.07 BTC

The current shipping price is: 0.21 BTC (may change, so check before paying)

For example:

for 1 units; (1*0.99) + 0.07 + 0.21 = 1.27 BTC
for 2 units; (2*0.99) + 0.07 + 0.21 = 2.26 BTC
for 3 units; (3*0.99) + 0.07 + 0.21 = 3.25 BTC
for 4 units; (4*0.99) + 0.07 + 0.21 = 4.24 BTC

etc etc

If you want 15 units or more, contact me first as you might need to pay a little extra to cover the insurance costs when shipping.

Please only send a payment from an address you can sign from.

The payment address is: 1KoQ5eWaRoiVHyJwZcPh1GLaCun35abJE3

Once a payment has been made, send me the following details in a private message:

Full name, Address (+postalcode), Email, Phone number, Transaction ID, Amount sent, Units, Refund Address (just in case)

And then paste your transaction ID in the thread so everyone can see whats going on.

---

They will be shipped for, the next working day, will be insured & need to be signed for.

Collection is also fine (I'm near the Dartford Tunnel)

Finally please keep in mind from when the payments are collected it could be a week or so before payment is sent and we receive the units, but I will attempt to make contact with yxt as soon as we have the funds ready.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Hey,

Unfortunetly this is a UK only group buy, but I know of someone who will have them for sale any day now and he is located in spain. I've done business with him before and all went well. I will send details via PM.

Great,

All looking good everyone.

Will give it a couple of hours to hopefully let the last person I know of wanting to send a payment and then leave YXT a message.

*Edit: I've sent YXT a message to get the ball rolling anyway*

*Edit: I'll leave the group buy open until the morning, YXT isn't going to ship tonight is he...*

OK..

So I messaged YXT yesterday and i've not had a reply, but it's only been a short period of time, so I was expecting that.

I noticed on his official thread, he said this yesterday:

more miners arrived here today  Smiley

Currently I am not yet satisfied with the webshop.
And Bitmit is down...which was my alternative plan  Angry

Hopefully, I'll hear from him directly, otherwise I suppose its possible we could be making a group buy purchase via Bitmit, unless his plan changes or he finishes his shop.. I know as much as you guys do!

I'll update you when I hear something.

*Edit* I've now confirmed with YXT we're probably waiting for his shop to open or bitmit to come online.

All units gone.

If you guys want me to run another group buy, now is the time to show some interest. I wont be taking orders though until I've shipped out this batch.

Not sure if the minis have USB support, the regulars blades don't - they use Ethernet. It would be nice if they did support USB. Guess we will have to wait and see..

Hey everyone,

I thought I best give an update, as its just gone 3:30 PM and there hasn't been a delivery yet.

I've just looked at the DHL tracking system, unfortunetly its saying they're still in Germany, but from my experience DHLs track and trace system doesn't always update properly anyway. I've even had deliveries before when their system says its not left the senders county...

If they've not been delivered or the status doesn't change by tomorrow YXT said he will call them.

All the packaging is ready, just waiting for the miners to drop 'em in.

Will keep you all updated.

Hey Everyone,

The DHL tracking information is saying our parcel is in the UK as of 1PM today.

I don't think its going to be delivered today though, the status hasn't changed to say "out for delivery" or anything like that.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope DHL deliver it early tomorrow.

Sorry I can't give you all a better update. Sad

Happy Birthday!

I'm not sure what colours have been sent.

Last time it was half red and half black.

You're welcome suggest your preference via PM but I certainly can't promise anything I'm afraid.

Happy hashing  Grin

on a side note has anyoen thought about adding a heatsink to their miners? and i assume it would affect the warranty?

I thought about it, but I'm running three now with a USB fan on them and it's working great. No need for extra cooling really.

I have seen pictures of someone who was running the miner from a laptop and it essentially sat on a heating,  essentially heatsink to heatsink. However I don't see that it will improve performance at all.  I have run 7 x units on one hub with and without a fan and they hashed at the same speed,  the fan just adds extra electric costs,  assume the heatsink will do the same  ie add to costs and not improve performance

Some people have said you get less hardware errors when using a fan to cool them - I use a usb fan with mine - to hell with the cost of electricity...

the cost of the fan is minimal - i have a mini notbook cooler fan from pound land and when plugged in my wall meter hardly changes. i'm more concerned with longevity Wink

I found it on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003XN24GY - and bought two, mostly to cool myself down last week but this is a great use too.

Edit: they were much cheaper than this link when I bought them, so it might be worth snooping around for a good price.

Or you can fashion yourself one using a 120mm regular fan using a 12V regulated PSU at 500mA. Its way cheaper than paying £15 a fan.

I asked yxt and he asked friedcat... no reply from friedcat yet...

I'm probably getting way ahead of myself here, as its a rumour, but If it turns out to be true and I get the discount directed towards me I will pass it on to everyone in this and the previous group buy obviously. Don't panic Smiley lol

*Edit* The way I'm reading it is, for every miner brought you can buy another for 0.10 btc, after that its 0.60 btc, surely that'll be a pain to work out for the "offical" resellers? lol

*Edit* Thanks everyone for all the kind words, glad you're all happy!

i will take the "cashback" deal if it is offered, but godamn they fucked everyone (except AM and AM shareholders) over with these.

The first batch are sold for 2BTC each, more by the time GB fees, shipping, import duty etc are all added on. in yxt original GB they were 2.47BTC.

At that price the ROI was deemed to be about 1-2 years.

Those units were barely in and running and the price drop was announced. So those early adopters get screwed twice, once on the price and secondly on the resulting difficulty increase that would accompany the next round of purchases.

So those got delivered and now the second group look likely to get fucked by a new price drop and even higher difficulty down the road due to the next round of sales. meanwhile many people who bought in at 2btc are just greasing up incase friedcat wants to fuck them again.

edit: just re-read outcasts last post, so it is not a cashback deal, you just get to buy more of the units for less, well fuck it, in for a satoshi in for a bitcoin, where do i sign up for my 44 units?

Recieved mine and now they're hashing away merrily... (after some COM port issues Sad)

Going back to fans - I've tried 3 different types -

a) i bought a USB notbook cooler from poundland - no issues at all - works fine - least airflow - now i have 5 miners i wanted something with a bit of grunt...

b) i also bought some REALLY cheap chinese fans with fabric blades - they work really well BUT get very hot - the motor on one burnt out before i realised and now need to make a few modifications (drill lots of holes i suspect) and the other the plastic casing has broken so that the motor and fan comes out of the holder - for £2.08 delivered (for two) i couldn't grumble but after contacting the seller i have been given a full refund and i get to keep the fans Cheesy

c) I bought a £3.99 USB desktop fan (QD and BnM) and its now blowing down over my miners nicely although i need to position it so that there is more airflow downwards.

My PC case has 3 USB ports at the top of the case (one miner) and a 8 port USB hub in the 3.5" floppy bay (plugged into motherboard header and powered from PSU (molex) with 4 miners running from this and a fan.

Hmm new miners: Sounds great - regreting buying my first two @ 4.2BTC though Sad spent 7.4BTC on 5 miners so far and earned less than 0.8BTC back...

K1 GB - might be worth a try too - doesn't hurt to have a few different brands of mining product on the go Wink my PC currently producing BTC, LTC and FTC Cheesy (reduces the overall running costs although it does create a SPoF Cry)

I have had PM's over this and I thought it to be too suspicious - cheaper, more units and more power. First I would like to see if it is mature enough to be in the wild. Otherwise I would reinvest somewhere else.

if AM does drop the price to 0.6btc those k1 nano units will never sell, they are only really in pre-production, by the time they get to a shipped product the cheaper BE will be available, even without the price drop, at 1btc they will sell enough BEs before the nano becomes available.

the bitfury 4gh is going to be the main BE competitor I think

Going back to fans - I've tried 3 different types -

I got mine cooled for basically free:

- Old PSU off a dead Netgear router (12v 2A)
- Old 120mm fan (salvaged out of an old dead PSU)
- 10 mins with soldering iron and heat shrink tubing.

Just have the 120mm fan sitting beside the USB hub, and the fan is basically silent.  It sits on the desk fine.

I have my CM1 fans plus the PSU blowing over the USB sticks. Even heat exhaust from other miners keeps it cooler than no fan Cheesy

I have had PM's over this and I thought it to be too suspicious - cheaper, more units and more power. First I would like to see if it is mature enough to be in the wild. Otherwise I would reinvest somewhere else.

It hashes... it is in the wild... we are just waiting on chips.

Anymore questions pop me a PM or even drop by our thread. Sorry for the intrusion.

So much K1 Nano pre-order spam. :/

I think I'll hold out for the block erupters at 0.10 BTC.

Agreed, I do get put off by people who spam my inbox with pre-order goods. My motto is; if you have the goods, i'll buy, if not, sod off!

I had enough of BFL already and their Japolinos.

I'm still waiting for clarification but it's my understanding that...

The next group buy will run at roughly 0.60btc per unit.

And for every unit purchased at 0.99+ btc previously, you will be able to purchase another at 0.10 btc.

Will update you all shortly.

once you ordered a 1000's units from friedcat the cost of the 1000 and all future orders are reduced, my guess is .44 per miner

I said "roughly 0.60 btc"as that's what the unoffical annoucment stated, I didn't say it would be exactly that. I'm still waiting for clarification, keep calm and wait for an update, I will give you all the best price I can get from yxt/friedcat. Smiley

Outcast, I really appreciate this group buy and what you do for us.
Can you tell us how the p+p is worked out, I think uk special delivery is insured up to 500gbp and is very competitive for those of us who don't order in such high volume?

Edit: thank you for the explanation below!

This is from memory but when I worked it out... 0.21 btc was about £12

To begin with I have to pay yxt to receive the package, fully insured etc etc, some of your btc goes towards this.

To make things a bit easier for myself all previous group buys where all shipped with £1000 insurance, i didn't fancy standing in the queue trying to remember what to insure everything for. They was sent by special delivery, next day by 1:00pm. I think thats about £8. then there is the cost of the packaging.

Then on top of all of this there is the fees to convert the BTC to GBP as well as the fees to withdraw the GBP.

Finally there's a little bit added to the price to account for the price fluctuation.

Hope that helps.

*Edit* for the next group buy, as the units are cheaper i''ll probably choose the lower insurance option and will of course pass the savings on
