There should be a Supporter rank for those who donate any amount to the forum.
Optionally (if it isn't hard to add) it could display the amount donated, so it would read something like: Supporter [1]

Or just lowe price of donator and vip donator ranks.

Those ranks were made when bitcoin was at really low rate.
People got vip donator rank for around 100-200$.

I doubt any individual bought vip donator rank after bitcoin price went super high.

That's been discussed over and over again.
Prices won't be lowered.

You're wrong.

I'm not sure you are trying to be dumb or you are really dumb.

I am trying to say. "What was the value of 50 bitcoins in fiat in 2010, 2011 or 2012.

Several peoples bought their donator ranks when bitcoins was at 10-12$.

If i was here that time, i could have bought  donator or vip rank for many peoples in 5000$
But i can only buy 1 now.

Not only then, but for most of the time I've been involved with Bitcoin, I was unaware as well as indifferent to the exchange rate of Bitcoins to any fiat currency.

They were very precious to me.
This forum was, too.

Today, the exchange rate, and therefore your evaluation of Bitcoins may have risen.
So did the value of this forum.

Therefore, I see no significant difference between the value of a Bitcoin in relation to the total value of this forum today and then.

Yes but 5 Grand for a rank on forum is too much.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38071.180

Are the contributer prices still up to date or are they from when the price was @ 10$?

The Donator/VIP tag prices are in BTC and they are not pegged to USD.

The prices won't be reduced. They may be increased if the BTC price gets really low. Additional lower-price statuses may be created later. I don't want to manually deal with too many payments, though.

I intend to add new, cheaper donator ranks. I won't decrease the price of the old ranks, though I may rename them (to "Donator+" and "VIP+" or something like that).

I said a long time ago that the prices would remain the same, so I can't change this policy now in any case.

Quote
Are the new ranks' price going to be variable or adjusted every x days or months depending on BTC price?

Maybe. I haven't thought about it much yet. The forum doesn't need donations, so I'm not going to create another donator level soon.

Yes but 5 Grand for a rank on forum is too much.

No one forces you to buy it..

To sum up this thread basically, it's 50 BTC no matter how you look at it. Those who took the chance to have that many bitcoins got it, and won. The price remains at 50BTC unless otherwise posted. Although I'd like to see donator ranks priced back at 10BTC (as theymos posted in a different thread) it doesn't seem likely that situation will arise. So let's stop beating the dead horse here, as it's dead.

tl;dr 50 BTC cost way less back in the day in USD. So did water, so did gasoline, so did many things. Complaining about the 50 BTC fee for donor status is pointless as it's like saying.. "I used to get one gallon (3.8L) of gas for $1 but now I am paying $5 for that SAME gallon!!" boo hoo. Let's all get over it. IF the forum ever requires more money for operations, im sure they'll consider lowering the prices.

Why does there need to be a new rank?  The forum doesn't need any money, it's not using the money that has already been donated.

The only thing this would do is make you feel cool because you had something different next to your name.  That does not seem like a good enough reason to add a new rank.

so why is the forum still selling 50+ BTC of advertising a week why not donate the advertising space to good causes ?
