I'm sure that Ripple will never increase in next year although it's also a good coin. Purpose of ripple is help speed up the processing of financial transactions between banks, and it's use like payment tools which fiat money is also able. If i have to choose coins that under $1 and most likely reach $10 in year 2018 then i will choose NXT, Golem and Bitshare. In three that coins i think NXT will soon reach $10

Flipping a <$1 ICO SCAM coin to +$10 is nothing about tech, its all about the pump&dump, certainly if you get enough ppl in this forum to work in concert and randomly pick a coin, and ramp that coin with every kind of bullshit 24/7, then that coin will rally,

OP should pick a coin, print the list of all +2,000 alt-shit coin, and throw a dart at wall, then report back that you need everybody to send 'x' to the moon.

Bitcoin-Z is nice, and has really good custodial care, music-coin, ... trezar, .. there are bunch of penny coins that are begging to go up 10,000X

ripple, stellar, digibyte, sia, iota, powerledger, and you can find out in coinmarketcap for the completed list. every coin which has the price less than $1 will become more than $1-$10 in next year. the price will change if there is a good support from the dev and the team with the community. but I think it will need more than one year to see the price is increase higher.

You should check on the total market capitalization of the coin, not the unit price

with that said, NEM and  SYS are under $1, and both of them have great team.
