By the way, you can buy ether for cash using Dether dapp. Installing the dapp on your smartphone you'll see on the map of your city people who sell ether. You can choose the right offer, meet with the seller and make a deal. Over time, Dether developers will add other coins, including bitcoin.
This sounds really awesome - I'm going to look into this now. Thanks for that.
I'm still confused as to what ether is to Ethererum. I realize it's the "Fuel" but I don't understand what the point of "fuel" is since bitcoin doesn't have it and I know you can purchase ether like ethereum also, but is it something that has a value that will also go up?
I jumped on coinbase.com - seems to have been the easiest/fastest way to get the ball rolling. A few more fees upfront than some other places probably, but still very reasonable.
Coinbase is easiest but as you figured out has the highest fees. Kraken has lower fees but their interface isn't good. Bitstamp has good interface but the process isn't as quick especially if using larger amounts. All have their drawbacks but all have their perks as well. Pick your poison so to speak
Good points on all of that. I love coinbase.com & the dashboard look & feel. I also love how fast & easy it was to purchase and feel it's worth the extra few dollars in fees. (at least for now) I will look into others to see how they fare as I get deeper into this. I'm currently also on hitbtc.com so I could buy paragon coin.
What is the difference between coinbase.com & hitbtc.com? I understand hitbtc.com as a peer-peer exchange that allows me to trade for other coins. But coinbase only allows me to purchase, so it's not an exchange?
