The US Treasury Department re-launched the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) from scratch to identify, prioritize, and respond to FinCEN's risks associated with cryptographic currencies such as black money laundering or terrorist financing. The illegal use of Bitcoin is also being discussed with international counterparts. They plan to conduct more detailed audits of Bitcoin-related companies, even if they have met the requirements of the current anti-money laundering laws.
This is not really bad news for Bitcoin, but rather a positive development for his futurism.

Well if we don't get some big hubs for Lighting Network around bitcoin itself, for me personally I think that many bussinesses will try to put in altcoins as payment that they accept one of these being bitpay which is currently looking to implement altcoins. But looking at it now there are some preatty good indicators.

Since this year there were a lot of All Time Highs which ment that mainstream media wrote about bitcoin time to time, so when people start to think about whats so special and because of its price when people start to get puzzeled they will want to investigate more. Which means that there might be wider adoption. In my opinion goverments will play the keyrole in this because many people will like it to be regulated because then they will feel safe using crypto currencies in general.
i think you have a point mate.people now are searching for another coin investing
and since bitcoin dominates the whole crypto this year the alts become the option of others
to invest and i know more of us will agree unto this.bitcoin will always be bitcoin so the altcoin
must make their own names in this community

The journey of bitcoin from 2009 to 2017 is very interesting. Although the stories of individuals(investors) are very interesting and motivational that how they initiated and what problems they faced at earlier stages.

In 2017 the number of businesses accepting bitcoin continues to increase. Where you see the bitcoin in 2018?

As of now, Bitcoin is facing many problems when it comes to transactions. There are other people questioning it's ability to scale effectively. The problem its facing right now is the slow and high fee transaction and Bitcoin has not yet comparable to the speed of credit cards.

If Bitcoin could not find any solution to its problem, people, especially huge investors will switch to altcoins that offers much faster and cheaper transaction rates. If this continues; I won't be able to say that bitcoin is a currency anymore like other people who claims that it is, and it will only be seen as a store of value.

This is just based on my opinion.

Normally, if given a choice to do something and nothing, I choose to do nothing.
But I will do something if it helps someone else to do nothing.
I'd work all night if it meant nothing got done.

I see bitcoin to gain an continuous increasing momentum in terms of its value and the number of investors and services that will choose bitcoins as a mode of payment or transaction. I think what we have witnessed in 2009 to 2017 are just bitcoins initial start up, a spring jump and its sprint to the peak of its success is just starting.

To me, bitcoin will be widely adopted in year 2018....only challenging factor will be speed of transaction and mining fee.... As per altcoin, though many organizations and businesses will adopt a chooses alts as alternative choice while BTC being the main choice.
Bitcoin will be out there for sure, but as you said more companies are looking into accepting altcoins for real transactions we can see that even bitpay is talking about it right now.

Problem is not in normal transactions, problem is that many people are simply jumping into cryptoruccrency scene and since bitcoin is widley used on many exchanges most of the transactions that we see now came as a result of people transfering between their wallets and between exchanges, which leaves small amount of space for "real business" transactions to be done untill LN will try to solve it, we will see what happens if LN is implemented next year BTC should continue to climb even more.

Hopefully much better than we've had in the past years so far we've had so many forks I think it has help bitcoin adoption hopefully the transactions fee and transaction speed would be better than the past years it has been the most common complaints by bitcoin users.

2018 will be a interesting year for bitcoin and crypto currencies as a whole, we have seen much interest and growth in bitcoin in 2017 and are likely to see this trend continuing I think we will see more altcoins shining through as some see bitcoin as too expensive they will start to buy others like eth and ltc so they will more likely make significant gains as well.

I see Bitcoin in 2018 in its different stage. I mean, Bitcoin price, as its continue to rise at its highest point, Bitcoin in 2018 will continue to grow and many people will be more interested to invest on it. If the people who are interested in Bitcoin will continue to increase, I think Bitcoin price will become higher and higher. Bitcoin will continue to spread worldwide and 2018 will the the year of Bitcoin.

I think you might be right. Bitcoin has already gone so far up and I don't think the same momentum will be sustained for next year.

Yeah it even could get 6 digit, but with these conditions like slow and expensive transaction we can talk more about a bubble after 50000+$

There has to be an improvement

I see bitcoin rising, but I see it more as the market being flooded with money.
I think altcoins will have a great year next year, they just need to get a bit more used friendly.
my 2 cents.

I think bitcoin reach up to 1500$ in 2018.

I think bitcoin will progress more in terms of increasing number of users, in addition to the many new coins that keep popping up, this will make bitcoins and other large tokens like eth, ltc, xmr, and more advanced because using them in exchange main. in 2018 I'm sure bitcoin will get famous

I hope this is really welcome by facebook, twitter and google, at least I can advertise easily without using the old way of credit cards, why companies still use a payment system that not everyone has access to it not even everyone also has credit. card, if they accept a bitcoin payment system by 2018 one of them later, I think bitcoin go to $150k is real
