By taking Bitcoin as payment for a physical commodity, Agora is giving high-risk speculative traders one more way to play the market. And the added bonus is that the transaction can be 100% anonymous.

A quick comparison shows that AgoraCommodities is by far the new low price leader in the bitcoin metals world. They are barely more expensive than the cheapest dealers on comparegoldprices.com or goldmart, but they have a large advantage of accepting instant payments instead of waiting for paper checks and bank wires. The crown was previously held by amagimetals.  Several bitcointalk members have reported very quick deliveries from agora in their thread in the "goods" section.

agoracommodities price for 1oz gold eagle:
$1,358.31 (gold spot $1292)
Priority Mail Flat Rate®: $5.60
Order Total: $1,363.91

Amagimetals: $1,357.83
Shipping & Handling USPS (Insured) $11.95
Bitcoin Processing Fee $13.99
Grand Total: $1,383.77

JM Bullion was the cheapest merchant on comparegoldprices.com, and while their price was cheaper at $1358.78, the ONLY payment method was paper check. Paying with a credit card brought the price up to $1412.89. Bank wires were available for orders over $2500, and would drastically increase the price of 1oz. Coinabul is always a complete ripoff at $1417 listed on the front page with no free shipping.

Lol, what the hell is going on. Everything at Agora is listed for "Free!" right now. How many 1 Kilo Gold Bars can I get at that price?

Even going to checkout doesn't fix it.

Unfortunately this makes it hard to get to the $5000 level for free shipping.

$17 to ship orders under $5k? I think I'll stick with Amagi.

What are you talking about?  I tested buying 1oz gold coins and 1/10 oz coins, and it was a flat rate $5.60 for either, which is cheaper than every other dealer on comparegoldprices.com.  Amagi is such a ripoff that it is more expensive to buy a 1oz gold coin even if Agora charged $17 shipping.  Amagi charges a 1% "bitcoin processing fee" that they hide until the final stage of checkout, in addition to the way higher premium they list over the spot price.  At least they are cheaper than coinabul though....

For orders valued at less than $5,000 your items will still ship through USPS but may not be shipped using USPS registered service. Please ensure that you provide the correct name on your order as we use the adult signature restricted delivery service through USPS.

The standard shipping charge is $17 for orders below $5,000.

Boldface is in the original.

Your shipping information page says orders less than 5k are $17, but when I check out with 1oz of gold or silver, it shows only $5.60 shipping.  What is going on?

We updated our shipping prices to be more competitive based on a recommendation from this thread. Thanks for pointing out that discrepancy. We will fix it.

The shipping is only $5.60.  The $17 figure is an error.
