Get your fucking shit straight or in 5 days I don't care how much DDoS/security protections you have, there will be much more issues with your site than your users complaining about not getting there money or missing BTC -- yes that is a threat. Closing tickets over and over without reason is not acceptable and will not be tolerated any longer. You are keeping money and BTC without responses.

I don't give a shit about what your "latest excuse is". GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER NOW.

I highly suggest everyone withdraw their BTC/cash from this site if everything isn't straight within 5 days of this post.

-One very pissed off fuck

EDIT: For those of you asking about other exchanges, TradeHill and Bitcoin7 are what I recommend.

Now I can't stop laughing, not to make light of this but he has bold, underlined, and italic words of varying font sizes and colors; it's a very pretty threat.

Names do not matter; however, if you insist...id...

All of them. All of them trade Bitcoins like securities in a standard market. It isn't defined by how you put money in.

I have high hopes for CampBX, opens in a few day.  I hope it works as good as it looks. http://campbx.com/

If it mostly works, and has decent volume ( >= Trade Hill), I'm out of MtGox for good.

FYI, i have traded large sums of money in mtgox w/o any issues and MagTux has been straight forward and accommodating to me in every way.  for anyone wanting liquidity and an owner who was an early adopter and who is dedicated to making Bitcoin work, you can't get any better than Mark.

If that's true, it's really sad. I'd have liked an early adopter who had a clue about how to run a business. You know, by doing simple things, like answering customers' questions about their accounts, instead of taking intentional and deliberate steps to ignore customers. I'd have liked an early adopter who was willing to be honest with people, instead of actively ignoring his obligations and responsibilities by deleting peoples' support tickets without so much as an explanation. If this is how MagicalTux thinks his customers deserve to be treated, then this is one early adopter I think deserves to lose his entire investment.

I agree! Mt.Gox's issues are only affecting a fraction of accounts, and we have multiple exchanges, and the coins did a fantastic job of weathering the disasters of June. Plus, there's been people working on merchant systems to handle coins, so it's probably only a matter of time before coins become much more useful regardless of ability to sell for fiat.

Yeah, a single business dealing with bitcoins is not Bitcoin. There's lots of nifty things about the system even if we had no exchange whatsoever. And people have been working on making it niftier, more acceptable for small businesses... these things matter more than the issues of one single service company. Smiley

How many support tickets do you think were generated over the course of the week that related to the shutdown.  Is it possible that a high volume of unclosed tickets may have been defeating their ability to identify those people who really need attention now? While I don't agree with closing unresolved tickets.. it may be better to think about possibilities of why this may have been done.  I don't think they removed support tickets in an attempt to defraud anyone...

My holdings at Mt.Gox exceeded $4000... I answered the questions on the account claim for with enough detail to prove it was my account.. and claimed the account, and my funds were 100% intact.

I hate to say it..  I suggest opening a new ticket....

I can attest to that.
Since the crash my account history shows: 'withdrawal' on both my BTC and USD accounts.
I didn't withdraw anything though, and my password wasn't cracked (19 alpha-numerical-other characters some of which were capitals, one doesn't crack that so easily).
Still one ticket got deleted, another got me my login back but the one about the missing BTCs and USDs until now didn't get answered.
Edit: It's not that I don't mtgox.com , I'm just getting very nervous about my money. Difficult to prove I didn't withdraw, so if they screwed up internally, how am I going to get my BTCs & USDs back? It wasn't a very small amount...

Your going to do WHAT, going to kill him with an overdose of bad HTML formatting?

Anyway, I've never really had any problems with mtgox. Yes the hack and downtime was annoying but the site came back as promised.

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

i am sorry but you are being ignorant. you cannot accomplish anything with posts like that.
You could calmly create a post and lay out the exact situation to the rest of the forum asking for suggestions.
During this time you could create new tickets to resolve your problem.

Thank you for getting your fucking shit straight. I'm glad you now have so much more DDoS/security protections. I don't foresee any other issues coming into play, like more missing BTC's. -- your site is GREAT. Keeping tickets opened until resolved is more than acceptable. I will continue to keep my money in your exchange.

I don't give a shit about what the "naysayers" print. THEY DON"T HAVE THEIR SHIT TOGETHER WHAT-SO-EVER.

I highly suggest everyone deposit their BTC/cash straight into this site within 5 days of this post.

-One Happy Camper

EDIT: For those of you asking about other exchanges, TradeHill and Bitcoin7 come to mind.

Your going to do WHAT, going to kill him with an overdose of bad HTML formatting?

Anyway, I've never really had any problems with mtgox. Yes the hack and downtime was annoying but the site came back as promised.

LOL @ HTML

ignorant idiot

i am sorry but you are being ignorant. you cannot accomplish anything with posts like that.
You could calmly create a post and lay out the exact situation to the rest of the forum asking for suggestions.
During this time you could create new tickets to resolve your problem.
BTW. html joke was awesome  Grin

DupingBitCoins should totally start an internet petition, because you know, that's how you UP the drama-quotient. You know, instead of firmly resolving to never use Gox again, like an adult.

The OP has every right to be as frustrated as he is. What's shocking is the amount of folks who come to defend Mt. Gox as if they were getting paid to do so.

Man up and take your loss, never use them again, fashion a dartboard target and use it regularly. Perhaps move on with your life.

I'd say that the meager handful of people who understand this system and actively participate in it so far are a long way from "the general public". As many others have said, the client isn't totally up to par for joe sixpack to get in on the benefits. It will eventually, but not just yet.

And yes, if you are unable to understand counterparty risk inherent in emerging markets, you're better off playing in another sandbox until this thing comes out of early beta.

Risk is one thing in an emerging market.  Theft is another animal altogether.

One can assume several things about this situation but there are 2 that stick out right now regarding MTGox closing account valid tickets proving they owe you money.

1.  They don't have enough money/BTC to make good on what is owed.  (Which is scary in it's own right.)
2.  They have no intention of paying back what they owe to those stuck in limbo.  (Theft.)

Yes, there are inherent risks involved.  (Losing value, out-right crash)  One of those isn't a supposedly reputable company that everyone seems to be sticking up for and telling people to invest in for stealing your money.  And then telling those that have their money stuck in 10 closed support tickets that they aren't updating or helping dozens of people to, "fuck off", and yes it's basically what you are saying.

Sorry, I don't know very many people that will allow someone to fuck with their money.

Those that do are either complicit with MTGox or completely fucking stupidly blind.

weird stuff...

I didn't have an astronomical amount of usd or btc at the time of the hack... but after the 4-5 day period of delays and what not I was able to log back in and my account was intact w\ the proper btc and usd amounts it had prior to the hack.

People need to cut mtgox some slack.  OBVIOUSLY... they're seriously understaffed.  The influx since april-may into the btc community has been huge and they weren't ready for that.

They probably have thousands of unread emails in their inbox and probably have to waste lots of time helping people with user-error type problems.

I will continue to use mtgox even if I am pissed that my email address is out on the web for the world to see and try to brute force any other accounts I have w\ that email address.  Luckily I use different passwords everywhere and my mtgox one was secure enough to not be cracked right away.

Anyhow, I'll just end my rant right there.

Have patience.  XOXO

The risk *is* the potential for everything you listed above. Want to know what balances I have in any of the active exchanges? Zero. I do a transfer, make my trade, and transfer out. My personal risk is something happening in the interim, and I fully acknowledge it.

I treat every service this way, because it is the only way to sanely operate when you have an emerging market situation, like we do here. Whether the 'root cause' is technical problems, outright stealing or an elaborate con, the end result is the same. You took a risk, and lost.

I don't intend to lose any more than I'm willing to risk, hence my strategy. That is what I meant by life not being fair.

Posting endless threads about it won't get your money back.

I have sympathy for the OP.  I withdrew my funds from Gox a week (seven) days ago in three bites (over the space a a couple of hours) because it was part of a trade, not some kind of deliberate exit.  I have just received the last installment (the other two were yesterday and back on Friday).  It might have only been USD1000, but more than I would like to lose.

Looks to me like they do not have the cash for withdrawals even though the money left my Gox account in less than a minute.  To have it sitting in limbo for a week isn't good enough so I'll be away from their exchange until they can sort themselves out or implode.

Nothing like a good run on bank funds.

It's called cognitive dissonance.

Given they're defending a company making at least at one point thousands per day off their product refusing to hire enough people to actually handle the product, I'd question the 'cognitive' part of that.

I had the same experience, but when I tried to log in again, my account balances had miraculously dropped to zero. And when that happens, one gets a bit nervous, and has every right to.

Despite numerous support emails, requests for account/reactivation, I *still* cannot login to my MtGox account.  Ive provided account balance info, IP address info, etc, and they just ignore my support requests.  Thieves, I surmise.  I would advise anyone new to the bitcoin world to avoid MtGox like the plague.  If, by some minor miracle I am able to access my account again I will withdraw everything I have from MtGox and never use them again.

The sheer amount of incompetence they have displayed over their "incident" is mind-boggling.  Lack of basic security, the worst customer-service I have ever experienced, and a remarkable ability to act like its not their fault.

BTW. html joke was awesome  Grin

lulzsec

fuck off
being that stupid , if i was mtgox i'd delete your petition any day of the week.
because you are so stupid it seems that you will make alot of "5 days or i wont drink my milk"...
now go to your corner cry again in case that someone has pity on you with your attitude.

Just a fyi in passing - the Cerulean Tower does has a TMO Internet company listed on the building directory - but as it ws the weekend, that was the view from the door.  (Some other nice big companies there too, not the kind of place to find a bitcoin operation.)
