Open-air case for Bitfury miners (pics and link to FS thread in OP): NEW Version

Got mine set up.  Just waiting for a starter kit to fill in.  Not too certain that the power supply will need to be swapped to the other side, but I'll find out soon enough.  I figure it would take maybe all of 10 minutes to make that modification if it's necessary.   I've got the fans mounted on the outside of the brackets for the moment.  

It's hard to belive that the hashing boards are really as small as this case seems to indicate.  Somehow I pictured them as much larger...

What power / watt and brand PSU are you using.?
What is recommended for a 25 GH/s kit.?

It's a Rosewill 750 bronze (80+) gaming PSU.  Picked it up from Newegg some time ago when it was on special (for around $59 as i recall.)

Thanks.! Is that good enough to run one single starter kit.? How many hashboards will it support (just curious to know for future).

This power supply should run an entire 400 Gh/s set (starter kit + 15 more hashing cards) with about 50% to spare.

Since the BitFurys seem to be able to run just fine without any/much cooling, I've decided to simplify the case a bit:





Fans can still be attached to the bottom extrusions or to the top support beam (via an optional set of fan tabs and fasteners).

Note that the PSU is now fastened to the tray (via two stainless steel "fan tabs").

These changes will reduce the cost of the case somewhat and allow me to build them faster.

how about the ability to have two units onto one? Will it fit with the existing design minus the fans?

Yes, the size of the case remains the same, so these will stack on V1 cases.

Any update on the version that can fit in a standard 19-inch rack? I'd be interested in those.

With the current version 2 of these can stand sideways vertically using 13U or 14U of height, but there will be is a lot of wasted space.

I'm working on it. 

Do you require it to be fully enclosed, or is this open design ok?

I forgot I had asked this question a while back. Anyway, open air is fine for me.

An enclosed version might happen...will probably just be another option, consisting of another post (to go next to the PSU) and some al sheeting.

They are the same plates used to mount the fans.  You will need to acquire a couple of #6-32 bolts (1/4-inch) and some washers to attach the tab to the PSU.
