Are these boards any good if you can get a new one cheap? I'm reading a lot of reviews on newer Biostar mining boards being pretty trash and even catching fire!

Looking to get a 6 card rig set up as cheap as possible for ROI reasons.

Would just buying any cheap board and 2 of these work?

Also, would these PCIE splitters have any problems on an old motherboard? I have 4 1060s running on an old https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-EP45-UD3R-rev-11#ov and have been wanting to go for 6 cards. One of these would be MUCH cheaper than a new MB/CPU/RAM.

Would that just be asking for headaches?

Thanks Cheesy

Those are pretty expensive here. Probably gonna go with a ROG STRIX B250H (135 CAD). I cant bring myself to buy Biostar even if it is only $75 CAD right now.

The Biostar TB85 is one of the best LGA 1150 mining motherboards. It's cheap and simple to get working with 6+ cards. If you look at the motherboard statistics for ethOS, the TB85 is one of the most popular boards currently in use.

I have one and it's been rock solid with up to 7 AMD cards using a PCI-E expander on the last PCI-E 1x slot. For the most part, Nvidia cards are not compatible with PCI-E expanders.
