Is bitcointalk still relevant now that bitcoin's gone 'mainstream'?

By "gone mainstream" do you mean it is being subjected to an attempt to control it by the Deep State bankers? Surely that means that forums such as Bitcoin Talk will become even more important if we are to be able to continue to use Bitcoin.

mainstream meaning big money entering the arena. that's music to us holders.

Not if the powers that are trying to repace current fiat systems with a single global currency, and they are trying to reduce Bitcoin by acquiring most of the available coins. The creation of a futures market shows the lengths they will go to in order to suck money out of theBitcoin economy.

Other than the developers section and marketplace what's really going on here?

mainstream meaning big money entering the arena. that's music to us holders.

I thought that Bitcoin was to be a peer-to-peer cash system, not a commodity to hold. The real power of Bitcoin is that it is a currency not controlled by a nation state. Those that hodl Bitcoin hopefully realize that. As far as Bitcoin going "mainstream" it's just more people are looking into Bitcoin due to the price vs. fiat and seeing it as a commodity. It's forums such as this that should be a place of learning and knowledge for the noobs coming into the sphere that should stay around to properly educate them away from the nation state definition of Bitcoin.

This forum is only as relevant as the user lets it be. As people we are creatures of habit, and we tend
not to look further than our comfort zones. If a person was to join a forum with DROVES of information,
and just wonder aimlessly through a couple sections, they are setting on their own hands.

Anyone can start here, and research any spectrum of the cryto currency world. Most of the KEY educational
benefits can be found here within an hour. We need to take off the GET RICH QUICK blinders to see that.
Just like this forum, Life is what we make of it. You've gotta take the lead and learn as much as you can!

Bitcointalk forum will be there forever as it is one of the oldest and trusted forum for the bitcoin community. It does not matter, whether bitcoins became mainstream currency or not ? This forum is the best and most relevant place to discuss the upcoming and current events related to the bitcoins.

The google ranking alone make this forum relevant. All new projects will give good rewards for links here.
I have been here a few month and learned so much. So for me very relevant.

I can't see how such a large and information dense community like this would become irrelevant. The spread of ideas and information is the engine of modern society.

I can not understand why you are in the same signature campaign as me.. you are just spreading crap from all over the forum, and it is not only for this post, you are doing always the same because i checked your post history, and it is full of crap and non sense posts.

Bitcointalk forum will be there forever as it is one of the oldest and trusted forum for the bitcoin community.

Yeah sure, maybe for you it is the best forum because you are earning money from doing literally nothing (*just posting crap all over the day)

This forum is the best and most relevant place to discuss the upcoming and current events related to the bitcoins.

I am not sure if the phrase that i marked in bold has been writen by a bot or a translator, because everytime that you go to google translator and you put "bitcoins" they automatically translate it to "the bitcoins".

Very suspicious.

There are a lot of projects that forget to make an ANN on this forum when launch. That is really bad because with a topic where we could discuss the project. The bad and great things about that. It could have a lot of bots and spammers but there are a lot of people that know a lot about what is going on.

If the policy is still on the ground of this forum, I think it will continue to be relevant, possibly will continue to come from various forums if we look at it from a different point of view and what advantages to pay particular attention to.

It's now mainstream to invest money in cryptocurrencies without thinking. People see news about Bitcoin on TV and don't bother to learn anything about it. So I think Bitcoitalk is a source for those who really try to understand the possibilities behind Bitcoin and others, and it will always be relevant Smiley

bitcoin is dead. alts killed it.

I believe alts extended bitcoins life a little longer... without alts more people would be using bitcoin and the fees would be higher than they are now.  :/

Hmm, I wonder if more independent mining pools would decrease transaction fees?
If yes the answer would be simple: we need more miners! Imagine every btc user having a miner with average hashing power. That would result in a much more stable and independent network.

There isn't correlation between more miners/pool with decreasing transaction fees. Only SegWit, LN or/and increasing block size which can decrease transaction size.

If there where miners/pools concentrating on microtransactions (with lower fees) this would help getting them faster approved!
The current problem is of course, that miners are trying to make as much profit as possible. Maybe a pool choosing transactions at random for their blocks would make sense :0
If there were pools like this, the overall transaction fees would sink.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think there are people out there, that run "hobby miners" for the sake of supporting the "system".
Certainly not enough of them to make a very big difference though. I think if  some "miners" educated
themselves a little further, about where to use their hashing power, these things could improve. Alot
of "miners" just hook up their machines, and aim it at the biggest pools, thinking that "bigger is better".
Have a visit in the mining pools board, and you'll soon notice, there's alot of "miners" who want to do
something about this issue.

Another thing I think is "bogging down" BTC, is the massive amount of "get rich quick" people. They have
just jumped onto the blockchain, making small $50 investments, and putting  $10 in 5 different online wallets.
Then they decide, they don't like something about one of them, so they move $10 to a wallet they like. That
wallet now has $16, cause they had to pay the transaction fee. They decided to move ALL of their money to
a wallet, that has the always promised "lowest fee". These little meaningless transactions are slowing the
system down.

A little bit of education about BTC, and how EVERYTHING works, could really benefit ALL of us. And at the
end of the day,  that's what this forum is supposed to be about. Unfortunately, you can lead a horse to water,
but you can't make it drink. Unless you promise the horse it can make a living off signature campaigns!

Yes this is exactly what I meant. The problem is if a miner just joins a pool, the pool owner chooses the thransactions mined into a block, and most pools ofcourse choose transactions with high fees so they make the most profit possible. I ask myself if pools with a fair, maybe random transaction choosing system exist? If not this would be sometheng we really need!
