What is the difference of hard cap to soft cap? Did we base on this if we are going to invest in altcoins? Share your comments.

A soft cap is the minimum needed for the project to proceed and a hard cap is the amount that they will accept no more than. For instance a soft cap could be 10 million and a hard cap 30 million meaning if the project does not attain 10 million it will not proceed and also if it reaches 30 million no more can be contributed.

These are fundraising goals. Soft cap is the lower limit, the minimal amount required for the project to be considered. If the project does not reach its soft cap, the team will return the funds. On the other hand, hard cap is the maximum amount a crowdsale will receive.

Agreed after the hardcap is already reached, the project will go on and after the ICO ends the coin will be listed to exchanges.

the hardcap means the maximum cap of funding. if the project raised the hardcap and the crowdsale will be automatically close. Softcap means the minimum cap for the project. if the project raised the minimum funding and the development progress will still continue.

For the second answer and yes because that can determine the hype of the project itself.

The softcap is the minimum amount of money that they expect to raise to start running their project smoothly.
And the hardcap is the maximum (just the opposite) of what they expect to run their project at a 100%.

I don’t look on the capitalization of the currency at all. What have a sense for me it is a volume or turnover for a month of the coins and the technology which lay in the foundation of currency.

Has anyone ever seen a project raise less than the soft cap and did investors get their money back?

Soft cap means the minimum goal to reach in ICO project,if they not attain their soft cap then the project will be called off and the investment amount will be returned back the their investors.Hard cap is that maximum level of that project if a project reached the hardcap that means end of the ICO sale and the tokens will be distributed for the investors as soon as possible.
Yeah you have to check the status of hardcap while investing on the project. If the softcap looks to hard to reach then it is waste of tie to invest on that ICO.

Soft cap means that if ICO doesn't get so much money, the ICO project will fail, and hard cap means the ICO can get as much money as possible.

Soft cap means the minimal money they could reach in order for their project to push through.
While hard cap, the maximum money they could reach so that the project will push through to 100%! Sometimes, if they just reached the soft cap, the project fails, the money will be returned ro investors, the participants in that bounty will not be paid.

Its some made up point, especially the "hard cap". Soft cap i can see that some may need, but no way the majority of ICOs need it. Low amount of money just means longer development time. Its bullshit.

Soft cap - this is the minimum amount of funds that is required to run the project. But the hard cap is the amount that is enough for the full implementation of the project. Naturally, when the hard cap is assembled, this is better.

That's not what a soft cap is. The soft cap is the minimum budget to develop the project. If the soft cap isn't reached, the project can't be developed and investors should get refunded.

Soft cap means minimum needed money , harp cap means maximum needed money . We need not to base on this when investing .I think if the hard cap is reached ,it means the project is good enough.

A soft cap is like the minimum amount the project needs to function and the hard cap is the its contrary, the maximum amount the project can collect and after that won`t accept any funds.

When the hardcap was achieved by the developers ICO sure will go thru and will be a success, but if not ICO will come to end more early than expected.
