I realize the failed projects often set softcap very high. When they can not recognize the real value of their project.
This makes investors worried when the project does not reach the softcap
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Usually when I invest, I look whether the project has collected software cap or how much more the project lacks before it, this is if the software cap is not yet assembled! Just if the project does not collect the software cap, the project will not be able to continue its existence

Soft cap is the minimum target of a project while the hard cap is the maximum target of a project, if the soft cap is achieved then the project can be continued until the hard cap is reached, if the soft cap is not reached then the project is usually stopped
sometimes there are projects that achieve softcap but choose to return investors' money for certain reasons.

A soft cap is the minimum needed for the project to proceed and a hard cap is the amount that they will accept no more than. For instance a soft cap could be 10 million and a hard cap 30 million meaning if the project does not attain 10 million it will not proceed and also if it reaches 30 million no more can be contributed.
It is so lucky for a project to reach a hard cap. Hard cap is the maximum amount of money a project can earn while a soft cap is the minimum amount a project must earn.

What is the difference of hard cap to soft cap? Did we base on this if we are going to invest in altcoins? Share your comments.
Actually, most of the crypto projects needs to reached the soft cap so that the project will have funds for the future development. But if the team can manage to achieved the hard cap, then it would be a very good basis for all investors to join and invest in that project.

In my humble opinion the soft cap is the needed amount for the project to be able to follow their road map, while the hard cap is the fund that will supply the project for its innovation and other necessities.

hard cap and soft cap is crucial and must be considered in investing. It's like a target that should be noted when he wanted to take the decision in investment. When it has reached the value of the soft cap of course be good things to be continued because it means the project has reached minimal funds to be able to walk. especially when it has reached the hard cap would certainly be a pretty incredible achievement.

The soft cover is the minimum threshold that the company must collect for the development of its ICO. Without collecting soft cover ICO will not live! A hard cap is the limit that a program must collect! If the Company will collect hard cover ahead of time, the collection program means stop prematurely. And the project will continue its development !
Such restrictions are now ignored, many projects cancel their product development even though they have achieved softcap.

Recently I've noticed that Taklimakhan project didn't achieve soft cup, but they are going to list on exchanges, keep developing product and so on. Basicly in such circumstances ICO should refund money to all investors.
Is it legit? Seems like fraudulent activity

I invested in ICO, which collected the Hardcap, because I thought it was important and would affect the success of the project. But I was wrong. The price of the token after the token went to the exchange fell eight times. Now for me Hardcap is not an indicator of the success and prospects of the project.

A soft cap and hard cap are fundraising goals. A hard cap is the absolute upper limit a team will take. Whereas, a soft cap is more speculative. A soft cap is typically a lower limit, more like how much a team is aiming to raise. If a team receives donations exceeding their hard cap, the funds are immediately returned to investors. Failure to do this is typically a red flag for investors. If a team doesn’t reach their soft cap, funds are sometimes returned as well. The project is essentially on life support then. However, there is some ambiguity around a soft cap, and whether or not the team returns funds or decides to move forward regardless.

A real-world example is Assetreon Energy, a token whose ICO is ongoing. Assetron published their soft cap figure of $170,000, and hard cap of $3.35 million, in the weeks prior to the ICO. They also included a detailed breakdown of why those numbers were picked. The figures were calculated by accounting for expenses like staff, infrastructure, office payment, developers, and so on. It’s important to investors that the soft and hard caps have a basis of some sort.

Of course, this is a very important issue, especially when choosing ICOs, the soft cap is like the minimum you have to raise a project to be viable, that means that if you raise less than that, the most likely option is to return the money and cancel the project, now the hard cap comes after you pass the soft cap and is for additional costs and project improvements, the money from the hard cap is usually used for the longevity of the project.

Soft cap is the amount of investment that will allow the project to start with minimal technical preparation. Hard cap is the maximum amount of investments, at achievement of which further attraction of funds will not be able to accelerate the development of the project.

Lol.... Well its not always so,  but sometimes i feel there is something we do not know as it is easy for projects to say they achieved soft or hardcap although that is a lie. Many will never share their contract address so people can see at ico

Agreed after the hardcap is already reached, the project will go on and after the ICO ends the coin will be listed to exchanges.
not all projects can reach the hard cap, provided the soft cap has been reached the coin can be registered on the exchange bus.
Yes but most times it critically tells on the price when it hits the exchange. Well it all depends on the seriousness of the team

It simply made many people believe (I used to be), and they would easily want to invest in a project that has achieved such milestones. If they publicly make a contribution, people will easily know it is a scam

Hard cap and soft cap, just like normal business have their main budget and excess or surplus same applies to crypto currency softcap is the main capital budget schedule to run a particular project and make it successful without meeting the softcap a project can not be run while hardcap is the surplus after meeting the softcap, that is the excess capital. Hardcap is not a most like softcap.

For any project, it's best to collect Hard Cap. This will help to implement the project at a high level. Soft cap is the minimum amount of money that is needed to implement the project.
Timing is very important in order to have a good chance to reach the hard cap.
At the current market which is bearish, it's hard to raise the hard cap if you do not have assured private investment coming from a certain group.
That is the trend I have observed lately.

I fully agree with many comments that were written earlier about the classification of soft caps and hard caps. In simple words, this is the difference between the minimum amount of fees and the maximum. But you have to be very careful here, as in recent years, cases have become frequent that the creators of the project a little fake this data to deliberately attract even more potential investors!!! That is, on their website show an exaggerated amount of current fees.
