Hi!

I am looking to setup a cryptocurrency portfolio with $10,000 for investment and long-term buy and hold only. I am looking at top 5 by market cap and so most likely BTC, ETC, LTC, +/- XRP. Would these coins and the following splits be reasonable?

A. BTC 40% ETH 30% LTC 20% XRP 10%
B. BTC 50% ETH 30% LTC 10% XRP 10%
C. BTC 50% ETH 30% LTC 20%

Any other suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Pj.

I prefer C.
Because BTC will grow and grow, and he need 50%.
ETH stable growing to and it's very useful coin.
LTC made good x in this year.

Don't get many coins, more clever to have 2-3 in your portfolio

All three choices are pretty reasonable in my opinion. The percentage holdings that you choose only depends on which ones you think has the highest chance of being successful in the future. You think ETH has a higher chance of being successful in the future? Then increase your ETH percentage. Same with BTC, LTC, XRP, and any other coins you're planning on holding.

Me personally though, I'd always go with BTC for more than 50%.

Looks pretty good. I would allocate 50% to BTC, only problem ti is so high now that I would probably wait a bit for correction in the price or at least buy at the small dip which are happening all the time. All your variations should do fine.

I am personally dedicating 5% of my portfolio on lower value coins with high potential (much higher risk also) like IOTA, ADA and Waves. But this is not for you if you just tend to invest without doing a lot of researching.

I personally would put more in ETH. I use Bitcoin and Ethereum as my stable coins. They are the most steady and have the most potential to grow in my opinion. I would put about 70% in Ethereum as I think it will rise faster than Bitcoin and it is younger so you are buying in cheaper. Then I would put 30% in Bitcoin.
