That's unfair! There are not enough competitors in this market(
That's exactly the reason why Bitmain is doing such things.
If there were 2 or more 14Th/s miners available, there would be a decent competition probably.
But now Bitmain are in dominant position, until Ebit or Canaan (or dragonmint Cheesy) come up with something similar.

Considering people are selling these units for $4000-5000 on the market right now, they still have space to jack up their prices. I'd highly suggest looking into Avalon units now. If Bitcoin hits a correction period temporarily these will be a bad buy, not worth looking at imo. Still funny how they put the price of these in BTC up next to the buy button but they don't even accept BTC for payment.

Bitmain become greedy? Wink Its two options as i see it:
1) everything gonna be bad with mining, so Bitmain want to squeeze all the profit at the moment;
2) everything gonna be good, but Bitmain double the price according to actual BTC/USD exchange rate;
3) Its just about expenses for HY party and holydays)

To be quite honest, I'm surprised they hadn't done it already. I guess they would have if they'd had another batch ready sooner.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

From where?  There was no batch available yesterday that I saw.  Last batch closed last week Monday @ $1415USD, for late January delivery.

It'll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when Ebit and Canaan release their new model specs.

it almost seems like Bitmain is antagonizing one of their competitors to try and get into a price war with them. Bitmain charges double for s9, Ebit is asking some ridiculous number.... I wonder if Canaan will now price under the s9 for their A8. I saw Phil say a day or two ago, that Canaan shouldnt try and price their A8 under bitmain and someone else thought that the A8 would sell for about 2500, now that price would even be cheaper than a S9. Bitmain is playing games because they know they run the market, trying to get someone to try and beat their price and then squeeze them out of the market.

Bitmain is definitely trying to remove the young guys, miners with small budget out of the map.
Bitmain is trying to centralized the mining industry to the rich and powerful.
Jihan Wu has no different with Peter Thiel now.
Thank God, DragonMint is on the way! Tongue

I may be mistaken but I believe they were available at +-1:30am at the old price when I was looking before going to sleep. I was looking at PSU's and S9's while trying to submit a ticket for an antpool issue.
