Dear All,

I am now some time into crypto space (mostly trading and ICO) and I have now decided to finally buy my first RIG. The point of this thread is to make it like a project. Below are the components and profitability function I've made. I will afterwards update the thread with profitability, pics, crashes, etc. Me and my friends are planning to buy 5 identical rigs below.

I will buy 8x 1060 3GB GPUs as I've read that they are not so electricity hungry (and silent) and thus it seems like a good solution for the first rig. Local supplier has also provided me with decent prices. Here they are (for the complete rig):

Biostar TB250-BTC+ Ver:6.0                               1   117,60 €   117,60 €
Intel Celeron G3900 2.8 GHz BOX LGA1151               1   36,84 €   36,84 €
ADATA AD4U2400W4G17-S 4GB DDR4                       1   50,21 €   50,21 €
KFA2 GTX1060 OC 3GB                                       8   251,78 €   2.014,26 €
COUGAR CG-GX-S750 750W 80+ gold                       2   100,18 €   200,37 €
Riser USB 008s x1 - x16 powered 50cm               8   12,21 €   97,71 €
Mining Rack MINI 1-6x GPU                               1   24,74 €   24,74 €
Crossbars (6GPU)                                                  1   16,82 €   16,82 €
Power/reset button                                               1   5,94 €   5,94 €
ADATA AUV150-16G-RBK 16GB USB3.0               1   7,90 €   7,90 €
                                                                                 2.572,39 €

The plan is to install Ethos OS to the USB key and run the mining from there.

Below are my personal calculations of the rig profitability:

Electricity price                            0,05   €/kWh
in USD                                    0,06   $/kWh

Profitability on 18.12.2017       Revenue   Profit        (whattomine.com calculation)
Zencash (ZEN)                        $20,89     $19,85
Metaverse (ETP)                        $20,08     $19,05
LBRY (LBC)                        $19,31     $18,27
Monacoin (MONA)                $19,31     $18,27
Sibcoin (SIB)                        $19,25     $18,22
Ethereum (ETH)                        $18,84     $17,81
Zcash (ZEC)                        $18,55     $17,52

Average                                $19,46     $18,43
in EUR                                16,50 €     15,63 €

Days in a month                30               30
Monthly Rev/Profit            $583,84        $552,81
in EUR                                495,06 €     468,75 €

ROI                                               0,18

Break-even                            164,58 days
                                              5,49    months

All calculations are of course approximation, but I tried to be "pessimistic" with approximations. Currency conversions were made simply with google. I do not know how good the whattomine.com calculations are but it seems like the most reliable page.

Let me know if the project idea makes sense and if you would be interested in something like that. All advises from the community are of course very welcome.

P.S.: My apologies for the not in-line specifications and calculations. I tried to put them in line but do not know how to. I hope they are clear and readable.

B.R.,
P.

While I'm aware that prices for many electronic devices are generally higher in Europe than in the U.S., I still think you're overpaying for the 3GB 1060s.

Additionally, with your revenue projections, have you considered the fact that this build relies on the 3GB 1060s, and WhatToMine appears to be using hashrates for the 6GB models? (Either way, you're not likely to average 22.5 mh/s with 8 of the 3GB versions, so there are issues with the numbers regardless of what they're doing.)

I would suggest purchasing a PSU from a more reputable brand/line. Look for those with the guts manufactured by Seasonic, SuperFlower, FSP, or another reputable OEM. Cougar usually goes with HEC, which is "meh" at best.

dont be fooled by any web calculators...
difficulty is growing like crazy , as more and more ppl getting into mining .
Your roi can be around a year or more , if the difficulty keep going up with today tendency...
or your roi can be less than 6 months , if price going sky high with modest difficulty growth Smiley

You should be able to find a better deal on the cards. It difficulty continues to grow your revenue will decrease.
If you really want to try it out and make yourself aware that the process of getting back your investment might take some time I recommend you to do so Smiley

Unfortunately, prices are higher in Europe. In country I live the price is actually really good...

That is kind of also a point of this project. To compare future, actual hash rates and profits with the calculated now.
I would purchase the 6GB, put the price is over 350,00€. It still seems more optimal to have 3GB, even with overcalculations. 6GBs are also overbudget...

Thank you for advise.

it's all a cycle.as prices surge, mining equipment prices rocket. eventually hardware catches up to the prices and mining becomes less profitable. Less profitable means less people building miners, then price spikes again, rinse repeat.

You will likely be very profitable for the next 3 months until hardware catches up with demand, of which your monthly profits will likely look really bad. As long as you dont sell to fiat and hold the alt or convert to btc, your roi will be fine.

looking back i found that i made the most from months where profits from calculators were the worst. I converted ether to btc. My original ROI was 10 months, made it in 3 months. If you follow the prices and mining, it's the never ending cycle.

UPDATE

Mining arrived 2 days ago.  Grin

I have decided to operate it with Hive OS and atm mining ETH solo. First day my hashrates were around 21-21,5 with Core +175 MEM +800 and PL 60. Second day hashrates are 22-22,5. I don't know why  Smiley

The RIG keeps crashing with higher core and MEM. On this numbers (175, 800) it seems stable, however it crashes once or twice per day. I just reboot it and it seems to be working.

I am planing to mine dual ETH and SC. Haven't done my due diligence for the mentioned coin, just "heard about it". Or any other coin to "second mine". Any good info would be highly appreciated.

Will be updating you with the hashrates and earnings. Would also appreciate from the community any useful information.

+800 mem is rather high. +650-700 is a common limit, since higher memory clocks usually start to cause instability and/or artifacting.

Not sure why you're solo mining ETH, though. Your rig is going to take a long time to produce any earnings, if it does at all.

Will be mining dual with SC. Am waiting for the SC wallet to download and synchronize. It is taking a bit longer than I thought.

Thank you for the mem advice. Is the core ok or should I maybe increase it?
