Hi,

I recently recieved my Antminer S9-14TH/s Shipping: 11-20 Dec. I spent the entire day trying to connect it to antpool but the Miner Status page appears blank. In the System page, there doesn't appear information regarding Hardware Version nor BMminer Version. I'm posting print screens bellow. What could be causing this and how can I solve it?
Best regards,
Paulo

Try to power off and reset your antminer maybe its just glitch or bug .. and try again..  If its not working
The other way that i know is firmware corrupted and reflashing firmware would be the solution..But i don't think is it allow to reflash your antminer since its still under warranty..
Better to contact the support from bitmain and ask if it can't avoid your warranty while flashing and ask to guide you.. .

Also check this guide for trouble shooting do this first to know if what problem of your hardware.

I'm having the same issue. Just got this machine 2 days ago.
Reset everything to defaults and got it to work for a sec. then it stopped when I put my name in instead of 'antminer'

Miner Status page does not fill out, Hardware Version and BMiner Version are blank.
Using 240v, Bitman APW 3++ or whatever its called (the official one for the s9)
Temps are good. It sounds like the fans spin up and down in cycles a lot.

Any clues would be helpful.

Thank you for your reply Bitmax,

in your opinion, which S9 firmware should I install? There are a lot of options in the Bitmain website and I'm not sure what is the proper one for my device (it's a 14 THs, shipping 11-20 Dec).

Were you able to solve it? I'm also using the APW 3++ PSU. I got my S9 one week ago, they're probably from the same batch.

Just received a batch of four S9s today and am having the same difficulties as described above. One thing to note, my 'miner status' page finally came to life after waiting about 10 minutes. I have D3s and L3s and am accustomed to them quickly displaying the stats.

These machines run through a process that tests each board to determine its safest frequency. There are times when you have to wait 40 minutes or longer before it starts hashing. Have some patience.

The reason everything is blank is because bmminer is running. There are no stats to display when the miner is not running, nor can the status page query the version info if it is not running.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Quick update - 3 out of 4 S9s came up after about 15 minutes. The one troublemaker has been up for about five hours and continues to exhibit the same problem. I let it 'idle' for about an hour and then try a hard reboot (pull the power, wait 30 sec, apply power). I'll let it continue for the remainder of the day and contact Bitmain if it continues on like this.

While I can't definitively claim that this won't work for everyone, I attempted to roll my firmware back and it didn't help. Sent a note to bitmain as I'm guessing it's a bad controller board.

I tried to up date the firm multiple times, even tried s9_upgrade_fix.tar, and read "incorrect firmware" everytime. I tried pointing the pool at another address (one from another user on here) and the S9 came to life. After I changed it back to antpools address the miner went dead again.

Same was with me. The only problem is an error in worker name or password. And yes - default antpool addresses  in miner setings are void ATM so you never see it working through them hence U dont see mines status info.

Guys, change your internet cable. I was using a right angled ugreen ethernet cable and I changed it to a normal non-right angled one and now, all hashboards work FINE!! Try it. It may work for u.

This worked for 2 of my antminers!!!!

Thank you jafolkerts, fanatic26, je_mario, KWMiner, LENIN12345 and Sandal_Hat for your responses.

I had a few miners from my last batch with that issue. I rolled the firmware back and they all came up within 15 minutes.

The firmware I used was Antminer-S9-all-201704280713-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar

I tried to install the newest firmware (last row of the table in the link bellow) and I couldn't connect to the pool. Then I installed the one you recommended (first row of the table in the link bellow) and I was able to connect. However one of the fans (the front/intake fan) stopped being recognized, it does not even spin, and a fan-related error appeared in the Kernel file.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve the fab not being recognized problem?

Best regards,
Paulo

Dear all,

the fan problem was a mistake on my part. I unbolted the metal protection in the intake to see if I could fit a 3D printed part. When I bolted it on again, I put it in the reverse direction and it was blocking one fan blade. I bolted it the proper way and now everything is fine.

So, the solve the "No data in Miner Status page", what I did was to install an older version of the firmware, specifically, Antminer-S9-all-201704270135-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz, which is bitmain's suggestion to replace Antminer-S9-all-201704280713-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar, the file proposed by fanatic26. I also changed my ethernet cable as porposed by Sandal_Hat.

Thank you very much fanatic26! Thank you very much Sandal_Hat! I would also like to thank all the users that shared their advice with me in this thread:

I'm seeing a similar issue.  What was ultimately the problem? Firmware or having to wait for the self test to complete?

Hi,

I'm having the same issue "Empty miner status" as reported in this thread, tried to revert back to the firmware but got "Socket connect failed: Connection refused" in the hardware version and the original issue still persists as well. My antminer and PSU are part of January batch.

Have anyone tried any other solution and made it work?

I read  some solutions. First try a good quality network cable. The next one is remove all cables of one hashboard and install one of the firmware updates from bitmain. In another thread somebody tried  the 550m Version but i wouldn't do that. Take the auto frequency first. Another guy wrotes  he insert all 3 pool adresses from  antpool an it works but he said nothing about bis Firmware. And one guy had issues with one fan so the miner reboot every  3 minutes  and doesn't load bmminer Version.

I have no time Next days to try out, maybe you. Pls tell me all Smiley

I will tell yall what happened to me, and I think this is everyones problem or maybe just a few peoples problems.
I purchased 3 s9's for the january 2-10 shipping, i got them around dec 15th.
I set them up to mine at home. I also have 3 old machines running in a datacenter for the last couple years. I am not new to mining at all.
I set them up and finally after a long time they connected to the pool. it took like 30 minutes for all 3 to connect and start mining, which is too long. i have the connection straight from my cable modem going to a netgear router then connected to 3 miners. after about 8 hours of mining it would drop a miner and disappear from the pool. then another unspecified time went by and it would drop another one, then i decided to shut all off and restart them. they never would reconnect at all. I reset the miners settings and reconfigured all. nothing would connect. I reset my router, nothing would connect, meaning I had internet on a laptop i was using to work on it all but the miners would not connect to the pool.
I finally went and reset my cable modem, then reset my router then started all the miners and they finally would reconnect to the pool and mine. it mined 10 hours then dropped one miner again and would not reconnect no matter what i did.
I started working on just that miner being scared to shut the others off because of the work it would take to make them mine again.
I noticed all 3 pools set in the miner said dead. I checked my other 2 miners and both had only one pool active the other 2 showed dead. knowing I had already made every change to my router I knew to make to fix the problem,I concentrated on my cable modem as the problem. I went in and messed around with all my setting in the modem and ended up doing something in it that wouldnt give me any connection at all lol.
finally I reset my cable modem to defaults. went into it to study all my settings to understand why the default settings wouldnt let my miners run like they should. this is what I did.
I made one change from the default settings in my cable modem and it instantly fixed every problem I had. My modem by default has IPV6 enabled. I unselected that setting and let the modem run on IPV4. restarted the modem and reconnected my computer to the connection and now the webpages load a split second faster. so i reconnected my router and started the miners up and now the miners connect and start mining within about 5 minutes. I now have had 9 solid days of mining without the first problem. they run rock solid from the minute I changed that setting. also now anytime you connect to the miners thru the lan and check the status, all 3 miners have all 3 pools showing live..
if you are having problems connecting your miners and your using a cable modem, try disabling the IPV6 in your modem. if this helps one person it was worth all this typing lol. good luck

If I have posted this is the wrong place , please move it to where it should be.

Tuaris and Haudini,

after I installed the older firmware and replaced the ethernet cable, the message "socket Connect failed" also appeared. However, after 2 or 3 minutes it disappeared and my S9 connected to the pools. I have NiceHash as my 1st pool, and slush as my 2nd pool.

Hi.

I've had a problem with my AntMiner S9.

The Status page (/cgi-bin/minerStatus.cgi) was not accessible in the webinterface.

The problem was I was somehow hacked. The webinterface was replaced with a hacked one. The good one was renamed from "cgi-bin" to "cgi-binx". It is accessible via "miner_IP/cgi-binx/minerStatus.cgi". So you need to rename this back to "cgi-bin" via SSH. The path is "/www/pages/".

Please note that the virus/hacker replaces your pools with his, however you cannot see it because the hacked webinterface shows incorrect information. To check the real pools go to "/config/bmminer.conf" via SSH on your miner.

You can also check the actual pools via link "miner_IP/minerStatus.html".

Don't forget to change your factory passwords!!!

Hi, same problem for me: empty status page with my 2 s9 from january batch both (on stratum.antpool.com, for bch).
1. I tried firmware update: problem not solved
2. Then i tried ip v4 only on my cable modem:  problem not solved
3. Then i switch my pool #0 from antpool to viabtc: problem solved, after waiting a few minutes (<10?)

So my conclusion is that it's an antpool problem not a s9 miner problem.

The remaining antpool on my pool conf #1 and #2 are Dead, and when running I can now see BMminer Version 2.0.0 on the system overview page.

I tried to use Putty to access SSH commands, but I was told that password was bad or username and password was bad. What IS the username and password for an S9?
It sure isn't root and admin.

Miner is hashing like hell, but all zeroes on status page. Hacked?

Please help ME FIX THIS! IT WAS WORKING LAST NIGHT1 ALL BOARDS ARE GOOD, GREEN LIGHTS ON MAIN PCB, THREE STEADY REDS ON BOARDS, GREEN LIGHT ON FRONT.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY MINER AND HOW DO i FIX IT??>HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

bmminer was 2.0 yesterday, I believe. Where did it go today?

I have tried factory reset, power off, power on, tried uploading new firmware, everything.

NOTHING IS WORKING I CANNOT CONNECT TO ANYTHING BUT IT IS HASHING LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL

WHO THE HELL DO i TALK TO AT BITMAIN TO GET SOME HELP?Huh

Code:

What was the exact stratum you used?

I also had the same issue with my January batch of S9's. I kept toying around with them (flashing firmware, checking connections, different ethernet cables, etc) but realized antpool was the culprit. I swtiched over to slushpool and everything started working.

This morning I decided to try antpool again because I want the option of mining BCH. I added the 3333 port as the primary stratum address and had the same issue, nothing showing up on the miner status page. I then made the 443 port the primary address and voila! Everything was working again. So there seems to be a problem with the 3333 port, which is weird because I've never had a problem with it in the past.

Just to throw this information out there since i believe most people dont understand.

An empty status page means bmminer is not running and the machine is not hashing.

"Socket connect failed: Connection refused" <----this is not an error in and of itself. This is the firmware trying to read the api of bmminer. If the machine is not hashing and bmminer is not running, it will refuse the data request with this message.

This is also why the hardware and bmminer version will show up blank. bmminer is not running, therefore it cannot respond to requests for those values.

All of these things can be traced to bmminer not running. You need to be looking into your kernel logs and figuring out why bmminer isnt starting.

Also, if these are November or later batches, I have experienced a number of hashing problems. Roll back your firmware to something from april /May and it will most likely solve your problems. The specific firmware I use to fix my antminers is: Antminer-S9-all-201704280713-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

It seems we are all having the same issue. If your settings are correct just let it run and it will eventually connect. I screwed around with firmware too. If you have rolled back the firmware, put the latest on at the bottom of bitmain page. Two of mine took every bit of 6 hours to start hashing and have been running 30 hours since with no problem. It's got to be something with the latest batches S9 controller cards. My L3+ can reboot and connect immediately everytime.

Same problem here.

I fixed it with the 20170427 firmware downgrade, but now, the temperature of the chips is not shown on my Antminer and fan is always running on full speed.

Letting the Antminer run with the initial firmware, the temperature is get, but no miner starts, as it is always shown "Bmminer not found".

Are you also facing that problem with the temperature after downgrading the firmware?

Hello,

New to antminer, less than a week old. When updating to new pool suddenly the miner has stopped mining.

Status page show zero fan speed.

Tried the "factory reset" method but miner settings stay the same and do not revert.

Does this mean I have a dead controller? No green or red light lit on front panel, however 3 green lights on controller board.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You should copy and paste the kernel log (located under the System tab) so we can take a look.

Ignore scammers on Skype, Telegram, etc. I will only ever contact you via forum PMs. See profile for fingerprint.

Cool, this is a relatively common problem with the newer firmwares. At any rate, flashing the april 2017 firmware should fix the issue (you can thank fanatic26 for the tip):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/v5r5n46eajetme4/Antminer-S9-all-201704270135-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz?dl=0

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtkfLUFCwpoBaWvM7d0-19mvBYo

You should confirm that the sha1sum is 0515029015ad8dcedb185367fc5f829851dc65ed before flashing

Ignore scammers on Skype, Telegram, etc. I will only ever contact you via forum PMs. See profile for fingerprint.

Thanks for any help, greatly appreciated...

Greetings all. New forum member, recently purchased 4 Antminer V9's with APW3++ power supplies. I have them in a colo data center running 220v and ALL have a similar problem. The V9's are running Linux 4.6.0-xilinx-gff8137b-dirty #22 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 22 12:25:44 CST 2017 and CGMiner 4.9.0. I've heard the V9 is a clone of the S9, so I'm hoping this thread can help me resolve the problem.

I have an issue where the miners become disconnected from Awesome Miner V5.3.1, and when I go into the web interface, the System/Overview has no data, but has the data field names, and the Miner Status is the same, no data but has data field names. I can ping them and they respond, but won't connect. I have been rebooting them to resolve this, and they connect within a few minutes, and remain hashing, for various timeframes. Sometimes they disconnect in a few hours, but in most instances they will disconnect right at 8:45 minutes of uptime.

I can see the kernel log, when it is in this state, and most of the time it leaves this as the last entry 'Jul 14 16:20:59 (none) local0.err cgminer[955]: cgminer time error total_secs = 1531585179.097935 last_total_secs = 889.864640'. I've researched and can't find alot of info on this, whether it is an error or not. It is the only entry in the Kernel Log with the correct date/time. This just happened again while researching and all 4 miners went 'disconnected' at the same time. This Kernel Log error did not appear in this last entry.  I had the colo data center check the network and they say there were no problems at the time these problems happened that could have caused these disconnects.

I would really appreciate any insight into this problem, and/or suggestions to resolve it.

As in within a few seconds of each other? If that is the case then highly unlikely the problem is with the miners as they are independent devices. That of course leaves a network issue, pool issue, or power feeding that bank of miners issue. What pool ya pointed at?

This is a private blockchain project and we are connecting to a private pool. I was thinking there is something in the pool causing it, but that's hard to confirm. This set of 4 miners was just replaced due to a similar problem, but they would not reconnect. I think the original miners were hacked since the passwords were changed, and the factory reset was disabled. Again that is hard to substantiate. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for all your help.
