I would wait for the middle of January to see how the market behaves. At the moment I like: Raiden Network Token, Stratis, OmiseGo, Aion, ICON, ETP, Qash, Ardor, BitShares, ZEN, Qtum. Good luck.

make a list yourself and those coins that you are interested in, study the plan and the technical part, about 50% I would buy altcoins for the remaining coins from the top 10 and bitcoin

Invest in a combined portfolio, start with bitcoin and ethereum until you learn more about the smaller alts and then gradually diversify into those alts. Some good smaller alts I can suggest are Enjin and FunFair.

The 30k is actually huge and if invested very well I see it turn into millions very soon, for me I will invest my 30k in BTC, BCH, ETH, NEO, OMG, EOS, RAIDEN and QTUM. Then I will set back and wait for millions from those investments.

Try to divide your amount into some parts or even a lot of the portfolio and then never leave them all in the single basket. Remember a lot of the promising project in this time that in competition to gain the interest from investors. It's not too late if you are considering to invest your money in the promising altcoin project. But it's too late to join the bitcoin party as long as you wanna take a huge risk.

Don't split them up into a million things as being suggested. Unless you strike the jackpot, it'll set you back considering the fees and all that. Find one or two coins that you are feeling happy about, and do indeed research them well. Look at recent chart statistics, speculations, recent behaviours, etc. When you find two coins that are doing well, go to an official exchange and fully verify yourself to allow for maximum exchange rates and the best offer from them (least fees, higher limits, etc.)

In my opinion, now is a horrible time to invest in Bitcoin. I have a feeling it's going to be crashing real soon, and if it does, that's the golden opportunity to strike.

As for the actual investing the money, any major exchange could fulfil the orders.

Impressive...  There's not one crypto there that isn't a sh*tcoin.  Lol.

If you really have 30k USD to invest then I'd say buy some BTC and some XMR.  And maybe some LTC as well.  I'd say those are the safest coins to invest in without doing any active day or swing trading.

But if you want some action and do some active trading, any coin will do as long as the volume is decent.  Be careful tho.  If you wanna play with fire, you def will get burned.

Invest the $30k into 3 altcoins of your choice ($10k per coin) after doing some research on the project.  Make sure the team is legit and have the technical background to accomplish what they say they'll do on the roadmap.  Maybe invest in 1 good upcoming ICO if you're into high risk, high returns.  It might end up giving you Ethereum returns.

I suggest to invest your capital 70% in bitcoin at current level as is dumped heavy from the level of 21000$ and remaining 30% capital in Ether and other good altcoins like  NEO, IOTA, Bitshares , PeerCoin, Zcash(ZEC),Tezos, Dogecoin, Ethereum Classic, igitalCash(DASH),SysCoin(SYS),Verge(XVG), but before invest in any coin , first research well about that coin or take advice from well experienced traders or investors if needed to avoid loss.

you need to take a couple of very important steps.
1. think first to see if you can afford to lose $30k, if not invest smaller.
2. understand the risks of investing in altcoins, also the risks of using exchanges that may run away at any moment with your money.
3. think ahead what you are going to do after you have invested in them. where will you keep these coins? on exchanges or a wallet?
4. and finally learn what pump and dump means.

the i invest in cryptocurrencies is that i have invested my money all in bitcoin, then i only invest in the altcoins for short term and only will stay in them while they are getting pumped not a moment longer.

I would obviously not bet all of it at once nor would I place it in one coin. There's too much at stake if so. Bitcoin is of course still the number one investment pick as opposed to most alt coins.

I would probably split these into half and use as it follows;

15.000$ for BTC
7500 $ ETH
7500$ Stratis, Verge and Waves

30k is a big money, are you sure? maybe I can suggest to you to buy bitcoin but you need to make sure the price is at the bottom. if the price increases, try to buy with a small part and check the situations and if the price still going to down, then you can prepare to place the order buy.

I think from 30k, you can divide with 20k in bitcoin and 10k in altcoin. for altcoin, you need to check which coin that will be good for your long term investment so you can save it for a long time.

I think you should wait until next year and start your invest/ trade plan at February 2018. You have enough money but please learn about the risk, it's very good knowledge and also will keep your mindset clear ( not stress ). I suggest February because December - January will comes up many news speculation and altcoin withdraw, it will make supply & demand chaos. The price will always move and can't be predictable, so please stay calm and good luck to you.
