I find that the value of bitcoin going down is a perfectly normal thing. It will soon rise again. Bitcoin is not volatile. selling off all the bitcoin right now is totally wrong decision. I will keep it

For me that is a bad decisions to do because it's perfectly normal you should've waited for the bitcoin to comeback at a rapidly increase. Before this year end i think the price will comeback to normal and will continue to grow.

It is quite volatile currently and thus you made the right decision by selling as fluctuations were affecting you. Now do all the maths on taxes and calculate final profit.

It is good to hear that you are not spreading negativity around and did not sell your cryptocurrencies just because of FUD. What matters most in the end is that you made profit and did not let greed take over. Most of us here will probably take this opportunity to buy BTC and alts at a discounted price as we're currently witnessing a massive bloodbath. Happy Holidays everyone!

Oh man. This is the time to buy my friend. The market is down 20% in a single day. I can understand selling if you made a profit, but if you are exiting at a marginal profit or a loss then that is a mistake. Could Bitcoin go down to $1000? Possibly. Only time will tell. I think it will go back up though. It may even surpass 20k like we all were dreaming about.
no mate no one can gain much profit if bitcoin decreased a lot although it will make a huge loss if bitcoin holders didn't sell immediately and that is the common reason  why they sell when bitcoin drop because of this scenario which is hard fall that can dump all of our profit. And much better to sell early to prevent loses and buy again when bitcoin bullish, i think that is a good idea.

Bitcoin is not for everyone. It is extremely volatile and very speculative. Arguably, the trend towards higher prices will continue, but at some point there will be a crash. I think the crash -- the big one -- is a long way off, though. Diversification is key.

and what is a real crash for you ?

The train go faster and faster, it was a question of weeks for drop down.
Same things was with tulips, dotcom, The South Sea Company, système de Law and other bubbles.

Hi there,

first I want to say this (because I think many people that feel bad will read this as well) :

I think it that the price of BTC will go up again.. I cannot be sure, noone can, but it will probably be ok again.

But....I sold everything... My cryptocurrency that is Smiley
The reason is that I can not grasp the reason of the cause behind the value changing so much whenever it happens.

"ooooh now it went up a lot"...
"aaaaah now it went down a lot"

Then you google and google and wonder....WHY? Why did it go up a lot. Why did it go down a lot.
Sometimes you can find out about some guy with influence that said something on a conference on the other side of the World.
Sometimes it is because a site like coinbase made a mistake or introduced something new..

If lots of people buy, it goes up.
If lots of people sell, it goes down.
I understand...

But if I look at the big picture, it is still a mystery Smiley

So..while I still had a little bit of profit I sold everything.

I did not put in my life savings, but still enough to make me feel bad if the bitcoin would go down a lot more.

I also have to think about taxes (I hate doing taxes!). Here in Scandinavia I have to write down everything. All the order numbers, the amounts,,.... I will take me hours of looking up how to do it properly.
And then I have  to pay 30% taxes over the profit because they validate the bitcoin like a lottery here (and I see the resemblance as well!)
I also bought it from websites from other countries and then the amounts are of course in the wrong valuta... .....horrible....  Wink

I wish all of you "bitcoiners" a very happy 2018. May all of you have profits!! (I feel like a ferengi all of a sudden)

And ehh...I probably will be back again. Just like a lottery, it is a bit of a "kick" one can get out of having a profit.

Well, selling everything because you are not comfortable of holding it, that's absolutely fine. Bitcoin is for those who can we withstand believing on it. There will be time that bitcoin will drop it's like what we are experiencing nowadays but that's absolutely fine because in investments, risk is also normal and we have to embrace it.

I think you risked a lot by selling everything and buying Bitcoin. Never trust anything 100%. And I pray to god you are not a short termn investor, because hey, your risk increased x10!

if you pray to god about the cryptomarket then your risk just increased x 100

Bitcoin is not for the “average guy”. It’s not for buying groceries, paying your mortgage every month or buying a frappuccino at Starbucks. Simply put - it’s not money, fiat or currency of any kind.

Bitcoin is the best professional day trading instrument the world has ever known. You sound like an “average guy”. There are lots of penny stocks out there you can play with if you want too. You made the right decision.

Hello!

1. I will be happy if my county make normal system with taxed and can we sleep normal. This allow to many people sleep good at night without the panic and worries about theirs offshore! At least this is legal in your country.

2. Your position is super great! Sell on high price buy on low price - perfect.

3. This was to quite predicable because a lot of people watch all this hype and sell houses for bitcoins or they just buy bitcoins and they cannot sell it now because it's awful low price so normal it's wish  hold it.

4. Much people wait when bitcoins crush because they want join to this party but not all can buy bitcoin with 20 thousand of greeny. I think if this is bubble we need fresh blood of newcomers who want join to this party and buy it. It's mean cryptocurrency never will be stable! Those who join it before cannot sell it cheaper it s looks like Oroboro)

I bought bitcoin at 18,700, and now it costs less than 14,000. But I'm not going to sell, I'll be waiting for the raise. I hope that after the new year bitcoin will resume its rise in price. Diversification does not always help. Almost all cryptocurrencies have fallen in price over the last 2 days.
Good to hear that there are still a optimistic person like you here in forum even bitcoin is now in dropping mode. Actually bitcoin drop was not suprsingly for me because I already expected it before as I see how fast bitcoin increase last few weeks. The bitcoin price was volitile so its normal to have a crash sometimes. Magbe next year it will increase again just trust bitcoin.

You likely didnt put to much thought into evaluating bitcoin on your own. It is very risky, and if no one saw this drop coming then it is just sad.... I have been saying a drop is coming for awhile now. Which is why you should be selling your investment and free rolling it, then it becomes less stressful and you can take a unbiased step back and re evaluate.

As long as you are happy with the profits you made then it's OK. At some point you may want to reinvest again and jump back onto the bitcoin rolercoster

That's completely okay when you are wearing a tag of 'Newbie' because if you are deciding to hold and if price falls further then you will feel extremely uncomfortable at that stage but on the other hand, the members who are wearing 'Legendary' tag will be those who will be buying Bitcoins in smaller lots and they know that this is the time to get in and not to get out of it.

However, they take the risk of losing what they have and they know what they are doing so if you are not comfortable in holding the funds in extreme volatility (especially during a correction) then it's completely all right. I believe that you will come back in 2018.
