Can I mine electroneum with my laptop? I have a 4th generation laptop with core i5.

I know that mining with laptop is hard but as it is said that electroneum can be mined with phone so I thought that it will also be easy to mine with my laptop. Please suggest me in this case as I am not well aware with mining. Thanks

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

In your place I wouldn't bother. Right now you can't mine with mobile phone, they didn't even publish mobile wallets yet.

You could download Windows miner from https://downloads.electroneum.com/, and mine with your laptop, but you would be earning 1-2 ETN per day or $0.2. If you want some ETN, maybe better buy them and spare your laptop.

Actually you can still earn through mining using your laptop it will be small yes but you can still earn. However the only problem here is that laptops are not meant for 24/7 use specially stressing a part of your laptop to its extent 24/7, you will just overheat your laptop. If you want to mine electroneum you would need at least a desktop/rig with a good spec say at least a Pentium g4400 for a CPU, and a GTX 1050ti or RX 560 or if you can buy a RX 570/580 for you to have a profit in mining electroneum.

Yes, you can mine with cpu mining with your laptop.

Follow the guide how to mine ETN with GPU/CPU or any supported devices here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2345911.0

I don't think it would be profitable and your CPU could become hot and damage.

Why not mine etn with GPU instead.

Mobile miner is better then laptop.
I have Nokia 8. in 3days I mine 14ETN

What !!

Both bad for mining.

Especially Mobile phone, the process mining produce a heat. What can be done with casing 151.5 x 73.7 x 7.9 mm (5.96 x 2.90 x 0.31 in) and don't have a fan. sure your mobile phone is heat.

The process mining must run 24/7 while a power for a Mobile phone using batteries. whether battery with Non-removable Li-Ion 3090 mAh. sure the battery drain faster.

how much your hashing speed with Octa-core (4x2.5 GHz Kryo & 4x1.8 GHz Kryo)? sure you must compete with GPU miners.

I suggest you don't do again mining using that Mobile Phone, yes I know that device your mine.

But my berty not drain fast and not my phone hit.proply raning my divice smoothly.

Oke..

In a day how long you to mine using that? whether 24 hr or how many hr?

atm, the price of ETN coin is $0.050360.

So, 14 x 0.050360 = $0.70504.

Let's calculate

If in 3 days you get 14 ETN. it means 14/3 = 4,6 let say 4 ETN/day

If you want $1 means you must get 20 ETN x 0.050360 (if the price is fixed) = 1.0072 let's say $1.

See further:

-20/4 = $1/5 days

-1 month = $6

-1 years = $72

So, it's too small when compared to your Mobile Phone price and the damage that will happen.

I think Your right 100% so best option is buying.
Thank you so much for guidance.

About laptop mining what you say ??

I still no suggested.

why I no suggested:

1. The laptop, not designed for running 24/7.

2. The laptop has a small fan.

3. a bit hashrate because of must compete with GPU miners.

let's compared with a GPU but I got lazy calculate. you can read this article:

Quote
A CPU core can execute 4 32-bit instructions per clock (using a 128-bit SSE instruction) or 8 via AVX (256-Bit), whereas a GPU like the Radeon HD 5970 can execute 3200 32-bit instructions per clock (using its 3200 ALUs or shaders). This is a difference of 800 (or 400 in case of AVX) times more instructions per clock. As of 2011, the fastest CPUs have up to 6, 8, or 12 cores and a somewhat higher frequency clock (2000-3000 MHz vs. 725 MHz for the Radeon HD 5970), but one HD5970 is still more than five times faster than four 12-core CPUs at 2.3GHz (which would also set you back about $4700 rather than $350 for the HD5970).
reference: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Why_a_GPU_mines_faster_than_a_CPU

example: RX 580 VS a laptop (i7-8700 Processor)

RX 580 has Shading Units/stream processor: 2304 x 1257 MHz (GPU Clock), So 2896 billion instructions per second

i7-8700  (sorry dude, you must calculate itself.)

I tried on my mobile app it seems not profitable. For almost 16 hours of mining I only got 4+ ETN. It drains my phone so fast but it doesn't cause heat much.

Better to mine Electroneum with your mobile phone rather than your laptop. In case of Windows miner (which you'll use on your laptop), the actual ETNs (with Cryptonight algorithm) are mined and your laptop does some heavy work, while in case of mobile miner, the app is a sort of a counter and does absolutely no work at all (ETN has a pool to pay out from for the mobile miner payments).

-Mining ETN through your laptop might burn up your laptop,

while

-mining ETN through your mobile miner will have absolutely no effect at all on your mobile phone (as it doesn't actually mine anything, according to the mobile app specifications). The mobile miner app is something dummy but surely earning some good number of ETN for you.

OR

You may also do this:

Download android emulators on your laptop and keep them opened up. I've not done this, but maybe keeping even 5 emulators opened up and mining ETN from all of those 5 might earn something good for you. It won't be very fair with ETN though. Tongue

Why you want to push your laptop/cpu or mobile phone ?
What do you want from them?
Ooo dear,..please don't do that think.
Please if you want to mining, use proper device.
But of course you can mining with your cpu/laptop/phone, but please don't hurt them.
