A bitcoin wallet is nothing but just a private key which is required to spend the Bitcoins available in the associated Bitcoin wallet. Since Bitcoin is based on blockchain technology which relies on the principle of decentralization it gives us the freedom to hold our funds with ourselves, so it doesn't make any sense to allow someone to hold your funds on your behalf. Thus I would recommend you to hold your funds offline which is considered as the safest method. You can go with the reputed hardware wallet or paper wallet generated in a secure environment. Never hold your funds on any web wallet or exchange unless you want to use those funds immediately.

Safest way to keep bitcoins is to store it to paper wallet or offline wallet with secured key code. Always backup keys and don't ever try to share it to anyone.

depends how much you have. store online up to the amount you are willing to lose. once your value gets beyond that point, store offline as per other suggestions.

There’s no other way to store bitcoins safe but only in wallets. My advise? Do not put your private keys in your phone or somewhere online. Go old school, store in somewhere like a piece of paper. Or in USBs. Just make sure you won’t lose them of course.

This is the best if you don't have any intentions of spending those bitcoins and it's literally going for a long term hold.

Choose your wallet --> https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet (Desktop, Hardware, Mobile, Web).

You can not keep your cryptocurrency or Bitcoin under your bed. The most safest and secure option is the cryptocurrency wallet.  A wallet keeps the key that helps you in receiving or spending the cryptocurrency. And also keep your keys to yourself.

A desktop wallet offers a number of advantages over an online wallet. While online wallets are easily accessed from anywhere in the world, they are also more vulnerable to potential hacking. Desktop wallets, on the other hand, are accessed only via your private computer, with personal security keys stored just on that machine. Thus, exposure of your security key online is reduced. Nonetheless, desktop wallets are still susceptible to hacks if your machine gets infected with malware designed to root out keys and steal Bitcoins.
