Hello everyone.

I have a little trouble with auctions. This week a won 2 auctions but the sellers did not sell it to me.
I followed rules of the auction but I guess they wanted more money.
So I wasted my time bidding and waiting till end of auction.
These auctions are about thousand of dollars but are not fair at all.

Is it possible to have some more members to lead the aution and have clear rules ?

So this night I won this auction : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=263381.msg2819483#msg2819483

Code:
Hi,

I'm auctioning at least three (3) BFL SC Singles aka. 60Gh units. I've received tracking code several days ago and based on previous shipments from BFL I should have these in hand on tuesday or wednesday.

Starting price for one unit is 80BTC. Bids must be in increments of 0.5BTC. Buy it now is 100BTC.

I'll cover express shipping and half of JohnK's escrow fee. That is, if you demand escrow(check my trust). Buyer who is ready to pay me directly gets 1.5BTC added to his bid. I prefer buyers from EU but it's not a requirement.

Auction ends on 28th of July, 11pm (UTC+2) or 2 minutes after the last bid.

If you need some verification, contact me in private. I have a legit business in Finland and I can give you all of my personal details. I also accept bank transfers but BTC is preferred.

Happy bidding.

After time was over I won with 2 @ 80BTC.
after half a hour the thread closed down so I could not reply anymore.

This is the reaction of the senior member of the auction :

Code:
Hi,

I'm sorry but I'm not going to sell those units with 80BTC. You were supposed to bid more than 80BTC.

That auction also failed since none was sold. I will make a new one if my private bidders fail to come up with money. If you decide to make a bid in that new auction and happen to win, I will cover the escrow fees.

Sorry for your trouble. New auction will be on tuesday or wednesday when I have units in hand.

So This is not fair I think, Is there anyway the auctions can be more fair ? (please help me out, I don't who owns this forum)

there are practically no rules for the auctions subforum, or this forum in general.

i highly suggest investing into this instead. you will get a much higher return.

The starting price was 80 and you bid 80... What's the problem?

When he comes back with "You were supposed to bid more than 80 btc" you should reply and say "Okay, I hereby increase my bid to 80.1 btc"  Grin

I was actually surprised that there was only one PUBLIC bid in that auction.

1) Starting price was 80BTC and technicality or not, I consider your bid as invalid since you didn't bid 80.5 or more. I've been always reasonable with my trades and kept my word and this time it's no different.

2) I also wrote that I have private bids around 90-95BTC. I'm still getting PM's from people who want to bid more than 80BTC.

I don't see how you won this one. Seems to me that you were just shooting lowball offers and hoping for the best.

If you say 80 BTC is the start price, then a bid of 80 BTC is ok.
Don't make the start price 80 Btc if you don't want to sell it for 80 Btc!

That's not reasonable in any way.

Who are you kidding?
If you read reactions of all people here. Everybody agrees with me.
If your a honest (adult) you admit it and make me the winner of the auction.

All you can do is leave negative trust and post in the scam accusations.  This forum is like bitcoin itself -- no rules, anonymity, full of scammers.  If you did win you must use escrow as you're just as likely to get scammed as get the product.

Take your 160BTC and buy 35 Asic Miner (not active miner!) shares instead.

I agree but he is a senior member who is able to edit and close threads.
He should be an example of fair trade that's why I started this.

Go to the ebay.com
Select any auction with ANY starting price.

If starting price is 500USD like example, CAN YOU BID 500???
If not - > Then MXRider is right here.
If you can-> Then you are right.

Thats it.

But as i know in auction is that thing like "Starting bid". Its also starting price. Its bid have done by OWNER.
You cannot use that price as bid because its bidden already.

End of story

He can close his own threads, but not other threads.  So your scam accusation thread can't be closed by him.

Seems to me that you were just shooting lowball offers and hoping for the best.

He was probably hoping for the best.
But he was NOT shooting lowball offers, as he bid for the starting price YOU decided.

If you wanted at least 80.5 per unit, you should have stated a starting price at 80.5.
This is no scam in my opinion, but it's very rude.

You, also, were hoping for the best. And you lost.

This is no ebay.
If you can start bidding 80BTC then I start bid 80 BTC.
And any normal thinking person who start the auction would no be fair and make me the winner.
This is about thousand of dollars so this would be childish.

see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reserve_price

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auction
Quote
Alternatively, if the seller has set a minimum sale price in advance (the 'reserve' price) and the final bid does not reach that price the item remains unsold.[14] Sometimes the auctioneer sets a minimum amount by which the next bid must exceed the current highest bid.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I don't think it's scam, but it''s not fair. And is not good for the trust of this forum.

I thinks it's childish.

End of story

Typically, if you say the auction is starting at price 80, then the first bidder is allowed to offer 80. If you want the first bid to be higher than 80, you need to explicitly say 'greater than 80'.

PM offers do not count for auctions. If they want to bid they need to post in the auction thread.

Anybody who does not sell to the winning bidder deserves a scammer tag.

The whole notion of a 'reserve price' seems silly to me, if you are not going to sell below a certain price, then start the auction at that price. All the rules of the auction should be clearly laid out in the opening post of the auction thread. As in contracts, anything not explicitly stated should be assumed to go in the favor of the person who did not write the rules.

This discussion should be in 'Meta' or 'Trading discussion', not in 'auctions' since it is a thread about auctions, not actually an auction.
