For the cryptocurencies 2017 was for shure a year of break trough. We were able to see many new ICO's. Some with good projects and the others with worse. From my opinion @VIBERATE was one of the bright ones. They launched a rewarding system which is a complete diference to mining.

 electra (ECA)- I am surprised how fast the transactions are and how big the community  is growing. I am planning to keep for long long time.

Since, you are just looking over 2 Altcoins, the safest bets would be $ETH and $NEO, I would include $STRAT here too.

Reason being a good number of potential ICOs are up in Q1 2018 based on $ETH and $NEO and we are already seeing a good and steady rise in both.

I will suggest Deeponion. I invested when it was $3 and now its trending above $7. There are so many updates which will be released in 2018 including smart contracts. Again, its TOR based so all transactions are completely anonymous and even your wallet IP is not traced.
They are soon going to launch android and ios wallets.
I mean its a long term investment and will gain huge popularity when people will realise other Altcoins are not completly anonymous.

Renos - community driven coin. Started a year ago and still alive. There wasn't ICO. Devfund has multisig with escrow. Developing of trading systems and etc. Waiting at least x30 in 2018.

A great strategy is to buy new altcoins just listed on exchsnges after their ICO ends.  Doing whitelist and KYC for every new coin  is a hassle and easier to buy upon exchange listing.
I recommend:

1) DeepBrain Chain DBC - from Asia, they are  largely unknown  in North America. Huge upside potential and they are partnering with NEO, Microsoft, Lenovo, Seimens already.  Just  listed on Kucoin exchange several days ago, its token is cheap ~0.09.

2) I am also very bullish on UTRUST. A block chain payment system better than Bitpay and PayPal. This project has an open lane with little competition from other crypto start ups.  Has made strategic partnerships with Appcoins and is executing its development plan well. 

Both tokens and projects will do amazing in 2018.

Just buy these and come back at the end of the year. The profits will be astounding!!!

I would recommend POE. If you search their project, you will see that their project is promising. Well this week this coin made 4x. Maybe it is late to buy but for long term invesment you can buy. And also I recommend GVT.

no, only because of GAS would not make any sense...you can check the GAS dividend on https://neotogas.com/ ....i mean its nice to get some free dividend ....but buying NEO only for GAS isn't that profitable.......

if u have a look at coinmarketcal u will see that NEO has a lot of events in the upcoming months  so  NEO could likely publish some good news
