I dont think that the holiday season is the reason for the drop of the price because as we all know that the crypto is too volatile and as per my observation when there are price increase there are investors who sells their investments because they already gained profit from their investment. Selling of coins and also buying is the reason of the volatility of the market.

Selling Bitcoin on Christmas and holiday season is responsible for dropping price of bitcoin. Many people are selling their btc for their own fiat currency to spend on Christmas celebration and holiday season. It is one of the major reason for dropping price.

well, maybe one of the causes is that. we know that by the end of the year, many people need money, so it's possible that many people are selling their bitcoins, so the bitcoin price goes down.

I think bitcoin's transaction getting more crowd since there will be more demand on bitcoin so I think bitcoin value still quite stable and high at the moment.

I don't think that Bitcoin might have dropped for such a common minute reason . Bitcoin is the world's best Cryotocurrency and such a reason is not at all what Bitcoin should give for its price drop. I just said this in the previous thread , south Korea announced cyber currency crackdown. It's a highlighted news in Google news.

The price dropped before this fud was distributed on global media and social media platforms. This will also explain the fud in more detail, https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7mn0ts/breaking_down_the_fud_a_closer_look_at_recent/

You should double check the facts before you believe the fud. ^smile^

I dont see any necessity for making the price drop by more than $5000, i dont think that billions of the total marketcap are gone just because the big daddy wanted to buy christmas gifts, no way

So it is the Holiday season and it was Xmas. How many people dived into their Bitcoin hoard to buy Xmas gifts and also paid for a nice holiday with their family?

No, of course not, i have just spent what i deserved, and it was not a huge amount of money, probably less than $1000, i do not remember.

Did you splash out with some expensive gifts and extravagant holidays with your bitcoins, during the holiday season?

Christmas is just an excuse to waste more money than what you expected before.

Christmas is a much-awaited day for some people. usually, christmas will be a moment where we can give gifts and do holiday in it. That means this moment is the time when people will spend a lot of money to celebrate. I am sure that, there are some people who earn 100% of their income from cryptocurrency so the decline that occurs in bitcoin and another cryptocurrency this month could be caused by it.
all that can happen, because some crypto users celebrate it and they also sell bitcoin for an interest. This also causes the fall in bitcoin prices, thus affecting others after seeing a decline, they also come to sell it for fear of increased losses so the value of bitcoin actually decline faster.

I think for me it can caused the drop in the price of bitcoin just like I withdraw my bitcoin to a paper money to buy things that needed in our Christmas and new years celebration here in my country and I think that's possible to happened next year.

It is quite possible that the holidays have somehow caused the sudden drop of bitcoin value. Due to the event, numerous people are selling their bitcoins to dollars to withdraw some. Although, there are a lot of factors that can affect the value of bitcoin. There were speculations that the dip was caused by a certain correction. Whatever the reason may be, hopefuli bitcoin can soon recover.

It can be the reason, its holliday and this is our time to our family so many people spend their time to their family and love one and this is also our vacation maybe that's the reason why the price dump because of many people get their vacation now.

I agree, and i think the reason why because they sell their bitcoin ang change it to fait currency that's why the value was dropping down because it's holliday season they whant to celebrate our crhistmas ( actually even me. ) But i think bitcoin value was increase again when this year 2018 comes.

Christmas celebration may contribute from this, but the main reason is that those FUD's spreading before holiday seasons. It seems that it could make people worrying for a huge dump that's why they are selling coins. Not for the intend that they have to used  for holidays but to escaped from losing their money.

The correction did include a little bit of cashing out only for giving gifts and spending some time with the family on a vacation. A hell a lot of investors thought after all the profits that has been reaped this year why not spend some on ourselves and not focus on profits here. The years and years of hardwork by developers and exchanges and what not is what that has bought us here. Even I cashed out a very little portion of my portfolio and bought some gifts. Gives me a great feeling.  Cheesy

So it is the Holiday season and it was Xmas. How many people dived into their Bitcoin hoard to buy Xmas gifts and also paid for a nice holiday with their family?

We saw a huge increase in the price, early in the season and this might have triggered a situation where people rewarded themselves with some "Gifts" for the holiday season.

The direct impact of that would have been a higher influx of coins onto the exchanges and if that was not met with a higher demand for coins, then it would explain the drop in the price.

Did you splash out with some expensive gifts and extravagant holidays with your bitcoins, during the holiday season?

I do believe some of the selling did drop the price, and with that drop it did create some panic selling among some of the unsteady hands during the holiday, as someone stated earlier in this post it takes or would take a lot of panic selling and a lot of unsteady hands to bring down the price. Im quite sure of that took place, but we have all seen this type of activity before and we will see it again. But Im not selling period, hence my user name I wont sell a single satoshi  until all financial hell breaks out in my particular situation, or until the price drops down to where I am on the edge of an abyss of loosing from where I stepped into this great opportunity. We are a long way from that happening. No I am holding for the long run, I have steady hands.

I think Christmas and new year season add up the the downfall of bitcoin price however as we look to technical details ie technical indication and candlestick analysis bitcoin price already attain the possible highest price after the record by record high price

There is a possibility that could happen, Christmas and holiday is the time to enjoy the time, I expect people will cashing out the profit from Bitcoin. And I'm sure in this time the cryptocurrencies market will not make a significant movement, it will be slow and stagnant movement due to many people have a break from trading to enjoy the holiday.

Maybe one of the reasons perhaps since many are selling their coins in order to convert to fiat for the holiday expenses and leisures. However, there's no need to panic for the dump because it will surely increases in 2018.

This could be one of the reasons why the price dropped i  this holiday season, people cashed out to reward themself a gift, and coincidentally the price was increasing a lot too. And after the price decreased a bit, people starts to panic and so some panic sells, and some people who wants to ruin bitcoin starting to spam the network with the dump. The transaction fees goes high and slow, price dropping, and more people become panic. And here we are now, with this condition.
For me, i didnt cash out a single of my bitcoin in this holidays, because for me, i already make a rule to do transaction outside a big time/ event / holidays season.

I'm one of those people who withdraw some funds to reward myself a little for the holiday season. Based on the observations of my partner who has been investing in bitcoin for almost 4 years, he said that whenever Christmas day is nearing, the value of bitcoin gets low at some point
