Because it's an asset, an investment, it has value just like gold you can't directly purchase items using gold (atleast most of the stores won't accept gold as payment) but you can exchange gold to fiat money and spend it.

useless? You are wrong, because Bitcoin is very useful, because if there is no Bitcoin there will be no cryptocurrency, ICO project, Bounty, so I think you are wrong if you say that Bitcoin is useless and why it's high price (expensive), because Bitcoin is a pioneer of cryptocurrency so obviously Bitcoin is very useful and the price is very expensive.

Had Bitcoin been useless, its price would not have been so high; technologically, Bitcoin lacks very little to do without all the existing altcoins.
But is it necessary? Bitcoin is not something separate, it is part of the ecosystem. Do you need a cryptocurrency that simply exists? Without any infrastructure? |

Bitcoin is very slow transaction and fee is rediculus then why people bother buying it or considering it. I have £130 of bitcoin and I want to move it and it is asking for £28 network fee. Why should people bother having it. I can't wait to get rid of it when the fee is low.
Actually bitcoin is not useless as you think. bitcoin has been used as a popular payment currency in the dark world since the early year of btc. For now, we need to make bitcoin used by everyone in the world as a global currency. But as long as the btc value not stable, it will very hard to become a popular currency in the world. |

I do not think Bitcoin is useless. This is probably the envy of reviews, who can not afford to buy it.  In general, this is the head of the entire cryptocurrency sphere. And I do not see a crypt, without Bitcoin as such. |

Bitcoin fees is really high, but I don't agree that this is useless because I believe in the future of every cryptocurrency and bitcoin is one of them. If you really think bitcoin is nothing then stop holding on it. Bitcoin will be better in 2018 and people who sold it on panic will surely buy back. I dont know when will it be better again, until now it is still as is. Holders believe that it will be better in the future simply because they are hoping to benefit good from their holdings. Sometimes I wonder if those who are saying that bitcoin has a future really believe it has or they are just simply saying it to feel better about it. |

who said to you that bitcoin is useless? of course it is usefull, but if you ask, what is the difference, there is no too many differences from others, but one thing is important, bitcoin is the first one which is successed, and people trust it. Also you must know that if people start to buy a glass of water for 1000 dolars tomorrow, you can not buy it for 999 dolars till they gave up.
