what blockheight is it now ? atm I see atleast 2 different invalid chains at heights 2479 and 2962. Looks a bit like a forked blockchain to me. Tho it could be some obsolete chains ghosting around while im at initial DL.
EDIT: from debug.log -> "receive version message: version 70001, blocks=4407" hmm....

I heard another report of a problem at height 2479 - if you get stuck on that block, you might need a re-index to get past it. I'm going to look at the nodes to see if I'm advertising a node that is on a ghost chain.

FreeTrade, I have some question about the votes,

In the log you can see that some address are eliminated on round 2
Those address have a lots off votes (~10,000)
And on round 4 you see others address are eliminated, but they have a much lower number of votes (~1,000 or less)

How come the biggest get eliminated first ?

No, but it's a good question.

If a candidate doesn't get any first preference votes, they don't show up in the voting rounds until later on, when other candidates are eliminated or elected. Shouldn't make much difference to the results, as usually they'll be eliminated as soon as they appear. I've implemented it this way so that it'll be faster later on when there are a lot of candidates - the algorithm can just eliminate them as they show up rather than at the start.

This is people moving their coin to BTER - I think 30% of coins at least are on BTER now, and BTER hasn't started voting yet.

ALSO!!!!!!  It appears that almost everyone has the MVTEoEoXmYzFydRfg5uNJRewt9tZ329fAN (Foundation) before MVTEoEo5LgYAMVh95oBBfGPj2eCDzkuJC3 (FreeTrade) in their preferences.  As a result, FreeTrade is getting eliminated before people's preference roll over to him.  He needs enough votes to survive till the foundation is granted.

Yes, generally speaking in a transferable vote election you need enough first preferences to stay in the race, and enough lower preferences to make it to the end.

This should still be easily implementable on the GPU, you just need to test and coordinate what the proper load balancing would be.  Via the TMTO trick, you can reduce memory consumption of the larger memory hashes and subsequently take longer to do them; so, you pipe a large number of these threads along with a small number of threads doing the small memory hashes and you should still get a pretty solid GPU advantage.

I think a GPU will help with speeding up the small memory hashes . . and maybe the medium memory hashes too, but if you've got all the threads looking for memory access continually, you're going to have a bottleneck on the memory bus.

The 21st Century foundation has potentially 1191 votes it is not using!  Can't they just send one MEG satashi to themselves?

Yeah, it's a little bit tricky to set up voting from a voting address, but you make a fair point . . . we shouldn't be seeking votes if we don't have our own voting rights used up I'll take steps.

1. Batch files auto start mining but mining waits for sync now
2. Only half logical processors are used unless specified otherwise - this is to stop new users systems from grinding to a halt.

Reports
Better debug voting report - it shows what top votes supported, and where support came from - should be helpful to Mr Wax's Capital Appreciation fund . . . .

After a restart it is running for 25 blocks now. Knock on wood
IF it gets stuck again I will send you the debug log.

EDIT: Running stable now for more than 40 blocks. The first bug may have been because I started the new client immediately after I closed the old one. I will keep an eye on it but so far so good.

(easy fix, 'touch "Error: grantdb1540.dat file not found"')
but the error isnt quite comprehesive nor easy to fix, if you cant read the source. it would maybe be better if the file would reside inthe .memorycoin/ directory

It's in the root - where would a better location be so the exe will find it the first time it runs?

Also you'll want the trustedhashlookup.txt file in the same directory so the software will sync faster.

hehe, I've prolly been with the linux too much, I actually never had a QT before the powercoin venture. In Windows its logical, but in linux its much simpler if the files used are in one place (rather than the root of the program)
