I own both bitcoin.me and bitcoin.com.au not because I wanted to sell them as domains but to build something with them in future.

That's my story; Absolutely none of mine were bought with the intention of squatting... I want to spend the next few years building bitcoin sites, so bought the domains in advance. Of course if anyone offers me a crazy-high price for one I wouldn't say no Smiley

May I ask what domain name you have in hands ? Smiley

The community needs to let the marketeers inif it ever wishes to have a chance in the real world.

The domain is definitely worth more than 5 BTC...

Everything in this world is worth exactly what people are willing AND ABLE to pay for it.  Everything.

you also need ability to pay to drive demand, not just a willingness.

the fact that i'd be willing to pay $40 billion for a space hotel doesn't help much if i don't have the cash Smiley

Here's a link to comb over for this years domain sales.

http://dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm

Are those prices they show truly the domain price, no content bundled in, no users bundled in, no email addresses bundled in, no "goodwill" (hey users, these wonderful folk are going to be the new management vs hey users warning get out we are moving to a new domain, do not believe for a moment that the folks we are selling it to are anything to do with us nor that we think you should trust them with any of your info...),  etc?

Yes.

I don't think you understand how scarce the domain name market is today.

Well I got spoiled back in the day, when you could order up hundreds from the NIC on a "pay later if you find them worth keeping, if not no sweat just let the free trial expire" basis, and even when eBay finally happened along I didn't get so much as a bid on the matched set windows.{com, net, org} ... eBay still hasn't paid me the $3.50 they still keep reminding me they owe me for the $3.50 I deposited with them against the chance someone might buy thus that I might owe them for the service of auctioning them off for me...

-MarkM- (Truly, not even a bid of a penny, let alone enough to actually pay the NIC for them at end of trial period!)

anyone who thinks a .us domain is better than .de is retarded at best. and 25k for that domain is probably a lie.

I haven't heard of a single one of those sites. Money well-wasted if you ask me.

Help Bitcoins by buying clothes, technology, books, etc. through people/stores that accept BTC. This will increase overall value of BTC as well as mitigate unnecessary bank transaction fees.

Just checking the first few links.  Social.com has nothing up, but I think we all can see the value in that domain.  DomainName.com, smart, a person is paying their bills with that site and that was just bought a couple of months ago.   Aktien.de is new, will give it time to see what they are up to.

RunningShoes.com, this one seems like someone with a grasp of the value of a domain, and will probably succeed based on that alone, but I think that site could be coded for SERPs better, but visually they look like every other site that would do shoes e-commerce, they'll be fine.

I can go no further, most of these seem like decent buys.

Willing to pay indicates someone, somewhere, has the ability and will spend it; thought that was implied.  It was a sense of a market pool of people, not approaching 1 person.

In other words, if you put a car on ebay and nobody is willing to pay $25,000, but instead $10,000, then that car is worth $10,000.

Yeah I ended up selling this awhile ago. I didn't even know this was in general discussion. What's with the necro-bump?
