Should I upgrade this wallet every time if I'm just holding some coins?
No reason to upgrade if you don't plan too stake or move coins. Just upgrade the next time you need too move coins. wrong. It is a mandatory upgrade  it's a mandatory update but as long as you have your private key(s) your are fine. If you don't plan to send coins and you're not staking them you don't have to update anything. Every wallet works this way. Anyway, for all the others: Update your wallet guys!Sooner rather than later he will be sending coins anyways so why not do it now lol. Besides it only takes 2 minutes, you only download the ZIP file. Replace the old wallet with the new one and you are good ( if you have your wallet.dat in %appdata% it will sync automatically ) His question was whether he should update if he plans to hold only, the answer is no. Not everyone is able to stay on date with all the update we have. You are making it harder than it is lol. Devs: This is a mandatory upgrade. JJack@: ok JJack@: Thanks, it took 2 minutes and my coins are now safer!  Just upgraded my wallet to the latest version, it's working perfectly. I hope this is the last wallet upgrade for a while. I'm getting exhausted from all of the (mostly) upgrades. |

I also just think we need some features to launch first. New exchanges give us a lot of attention. Let's give that attention something to see.
Stealth addresses will give an additional boost to DeepOnion and we could expect measurable results immediately after. My opinion is that the price will spike right after the fork. You should also see it from a different perspective, why should stealth addresses give an additional boost immediately? Even if it enhances the usability of the coin, what is that feature worth right when it is available? People buy into things when they see the potential. The potential of DeepOnion becomes greater once a feature is actually released In my opinion it needs to enfold the potential first. When people start using it and the technology convinces them they should go the next step and invest. |

Hating the sudden bear run for all Crypto.
But yeah, we all signed up for this.

Wouldnt say ' bear ' we are just cooling down a little. We have been going up a lot in the past weeks  They say before every storm there is the moment of calm. This is not down... If you want to see a real DOWN... go check bitconnect's graph... Price reduced because some (or maybe one) weak hand got scared and decided to sell thinking it will drops further... we are still above the previously flatlined 0.00022000 satoshis so I think we are good... This is just a dip due to the Mt. Gox and Upbit FUD...also 22k satoshis seem to be the baseline for DeepOnion which isn't bad for a coin that thousands of people got for free  At these prices, its a good entry point. However, I think it the markets as a whole will shed another hundred billion before we see an increase because this is the same fud we saw a couple months ago. I hope im wrong and im not making any moves based upon my gut. I'm going to continue hodling everything. |

Thanks for the tips, actually thinking of getting one to stake me onions. The Pi is a great way to stake ONIONs, cheap to purchase and low power consumption. It's great when the community helps each other out to be safer online too. Great advice I have cheap electricity so staking on a PC is not a problem but I will set up my rPi when I get some time, just for the fun of it... The electricity required to run a computer in rest mode is negligible anyways no matter where you live. By the way do you guys stake with different wallet addresses or just one main one? I thought only one of my wallet addresses (all addresses through the same open wallet) was staking because one wallet only has like 20 Onions in it and I havent seen it stake yet. Last week I minted a tiny fraction of an Onion from a different addresses so I think both addresses were actually staking simultaneously. |

So indeed what is the point? You can also tweet Vitalik for becoming a billionaire off ETH as he funded it and probably holds a huge chunk of it...so what? All cryptos are like this...early comers and founders usually have way more than new people....early bitcoin adopters are millionaires too...so we could send messages to anyone who bought BTC before 2013... Exactly what I was thinking... But we are already giving too much time to this particular discussion... Better move on and concentrate on stealth addresses, hope everyone has updated wallet Do you know who Satoshi is or how many bitcoin he holds? over 7% of bitcoin is in a cold storage wallet. Millions are lost due to lost keys. Like globee07 stated... Every coin founder holds a stash of their coin. Look at LTC for a bad example, didnt Charlie Lee dump a ton of LTC? Every coin creator/founders/devs hold large sums of the coin that they have created, this is no news to anybody. Why should deeper not have been able to participate in the airdrop? DeepOnion has a DEV fund and a BOUNTY fund also. The rest of the premined onions will go to future developments and bounties, things already already kicking off in VoteCentral with proposals for the new era of DeepOnion. New marketing plans, plans to have a hardware wallet, promotions in other countries, a video academy series all funded by the development fund. To further the future of DeepOnion. Funny when people try to spread FUD about a coin.... Look at all the replies his thread got! DeepOnion is like every other coin in the sense that the developers/founders/core team members hold a lot of $Onions, but they hold them with pride. They are unlike every other coin in the fact that in just 10 MONTHS they have literally moved mountains providing us with the ultimate privacy coin and the best community based altcoin possible. Gox knows how to crash the market with big sells at once instead of splitting it up. But the market should recover soon. |
