If I am not mistaking, there was a huge Airdrop instead of ICO, right? But to receive "DeepOnion"s, you needed to have "Onion"s or sthg similair?
Can someone please point me into the right direction for this? Article or whatever.

I don't know why you're interested in the method of DeepOnion's airdrop distribution but you can check old threads in the "Official" section of the DeepOnion forum and you'll probably find whatever you need. I believe that in the beginning, distribution didn't require purchasing any Onions and after a while, they made a holder rule for the airdrops, which had gotten abandoned by the time I'd registered for the airdrops.

I am actually interested in the evolution of the ICO's, regulations etc. And encountered DeepOnion with the very interesting approach at the TGE, thus the question. It is something extraordinary, something new...

There are many good new things in DeepOnion, the new code rebase is getting close to be finished and after that the DeepOnion blockchain will be able to handle lightning network because it will have segwit in the code already integrated, plus smart contracts capabilities, and the other features like DeepSend, DeepVault already available for notary on the blockchain! plus big community keeps growing each day! new partnerships, new 5 DeepOnion payment plugins soon to be released! and the list is big...

The distribution method of DeepOnion's airdrop was one of the things that had piqued my interest back when I'd joined the forum. And then, of course, there were the various features and DeepVault

Question: I see the latest wallet, on Github or wallet download link, is DeepOnion Wallet v1.7.5.

Is this a mandatory upgrade or will v.1.7.3 still be fine for the immediate few days before I download the newer version?

In the past I have skipped some, but not all, of the optional updates and then skipped and upgraded say from 1.70 to 1.73 (not specifically those versions in that order, but for example).

v1.7.5 is the latest wallet with new themes and some updates but it's not mandatory. v1.7.3 was the mandatory one and you should be find running it for now.
