Thoughts on this ? it is basically a slower S9 at a higher price. Some reviews have said it has a longer longevity

https://imgur.com/a/b8BDN

but priced at 24900 RMB = $3828 USD and only 10.5 TH/s with higher consumption.

Would you purchase this ?!?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Wow they must be dumping their bad BM1387 chips, those are the worst spec Bitmain miner of this generation

Antminer T9
Hash Rate: 11.5TH/s ±7%
Power Consumption: 1450W ±7%

Antminer T9+
Hash Rate: 10.5TH/s ±5%
Power Consumption: 1432W ±7%

I'm not getting the new name, T9+.  Huh
Since the hash rate is actually lower than before, and also the power efficiency is slightly worse than before.

Maybe some updated changes in the miner design?

I presume that there are less amount BM1387 chips in the T9+ design.

Yea I'm curious to see what happens when all these new comers who are overpaying for miners realize that bitcoin mining isn't as cool/simple as they anticipated.

I'm seeing A LOT of people trying to mine with their new S9 in their 250 square foot NYC apartment with only enough power to run 2 of the three hash boards.

And a lot of people buying sidehack's stick expecting it to mine a whole bitcoin.

So based on what I have seen I assume the efficiency of this unit is lower probably because the chips are volted or clocked higher, probably to compensate for the lower hashrate. Price is too high, and the S9s earlier sold for less though they were in stock for maybe 5 minutes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bitmain are about to release a new miner, some competition has slowly been building and they might want something else to put them ahead of the pack.

As far as chip dump goes, it could just be that they were saving up the "bin 2" underperforming chips for a while and recently had enough to make an assembly run of T9.  That pricing is obnoxious, though!

Makes sense:
- Hey boss, what do we do with those crappy chips we can't put in the S9?
- Let's put them into T9s, sell them for twice the price
- Genius!

Looked into this and had the same thoughts.  That price for what you are getting is absurd. Supply and demand though I am sure they will sell out quickly which will only add to the price of the next version.

I just noticed that these T9+ miners are available for international sales at Eastshore.

https://www.eastshore.xyz/shop/bitcoin-miner-antminer-t9-16nm-asic-miner/

Price: 3999 USD

I've bought hardware from Eastshore in multiple occasions before, and they are legit.

Well I thought to tell about that, in case somebody wants to buy one.

T9s are more reliable than S9s, but less power efficient.

This sales price is too high for me personally.

I agree. I have no doubts that they will all sell quickly, but I won’t be buying one at that price. I was hoping the price would have been in the 2500.00 area.

According to Digitimes, TSMC has received an urgent order from Bitmain for 100k 12nm HPC (high performance computing) chips at the beginning of 2018. 10k chips will be delivered every month in Q1 2018 and more in Q2.

Yes, I can't make sense of them. You can just buy more S9s to make up for the failures.

Wow, they're really trying to milk the puppy, They do realize people are buying at ridiculous price based on ephemeral profitability. They are aware that it will probably have faded before they even have to ship the units. Ruthless.

Yes.
So maybe the T9+ model has something like 159 chips..

@btc-haze
Thanks for the information!
Btw, can you fix the thread title?
I guess you meant to wrote 'T9+' instead of the 'T3+'?

Yes that basically click baited me here. "The fuck is a T3". Tongue

It's 28 t1s! Wahwah.

PT Barnum was right...and then a bunch of used miners will be on sale in the next few months (when it gets warmer).

Barnum is outdated - it's more like "every second" now not "every minute".

I guess people who will be desperate to mine join the bitcoin mining craze will be the first ones to jump in and buy. Funny how like used antminer S9s get sold on ebay for more than $5000 and thats not yet even including the power supply. Its kind of scary that way and I understand why some people are now very skeptical about bitcoin calling it a bubble and all that FUD. Good thing I know better tho. Hodl.  Cool

Yep, and Bitmain took note.  They bumped the price of all their S9 and L3+ march preorders up $200-400 dollars each and they still all sold out.  It was funny.  Bitmain sold the last march batch L3+ at $1900 - $2000 until they sold out, then reduced the price back down to $1500 on their web site after they were already sold out.  My guess is they have all those miners currently running and then send them out after the 45 - 60 day "burn in" testing to make sure they all work according to spec Wink

tip: doesn't Bitmain usually advertise them self , when they do world wide sales ? .... or they have in the past even for used junk . just saying Smiley  nothing more I'm sure bitmain is selling these 5k plus units  but id hold off ...

an what ever happen to the faster they got the Less Electricity they used by that I mean miners doing lets says 15 th using below 1 k watts or 900 watts ...... or 15 th with 900 watts @ the wall .... well anyway i knew that was a pipe dream, right now.  they do indeed use less now but I expected better power usage by now . but then again they also don't make home miners either like they did once upon a time or when they first started  out . just my 2 cents worth .

I would love to see a new version of the R4.  I think a sub 1000 watt draw miner would sell very quickly here in the US for the entry level miner.  Hell when they come out with the 12nm or 10nm chips, make like a "mini" version for the hobbyist that uses 1/2 the number of chips Smiley

Yep, that's where they started and sold for weeks.  Then the last 48 hours of the march batches went up to 1900, and 2050.  Then once they sold out, the price went back to 1536 on the web site.  I thought about getting another 2, went to the site, and decided nope when I saw the price.

The price is certainly high enough to exclude anyone who doesn't have really really cheap power, but one must also consider that the cost of having a regular S9 fail after 6 months may be higher.

Actually a number of forum members have stated they like the T9's specs in that they're basically bullet proof and the chip temps are much lower than an S9.  At least that's how the previous batches of T9's have been.

I've been running T9s for a very long time without any issues (touch wood)!

They actually run warmer than an S9 and generate more heat. It is working under 18 deg C room temp and chip temp is always above 77 but never above 82.

What are the chances that they will release another batch for half the price with a delayed delivery like they did with the A3?!

Very very slim. The A3 price reduction was because Bitmain released 10x the global hashrate when they launched the A3, thus decreasing profits by 10x. This last batch of T9+ will be barely noticeable in terms of the affect on global hashrate and therefor the "value" of the T9+ will remain high as long as Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash remain high.

Agreed. Would much rather purchase an R4 then a T9+. Thing sounds like a leaf blower 24/7...

There is one option already and it is called Hotmine X5
https://hotmine.io/catalog/1

I made a review about this machine about a year ago, the link is in my signature space.
